History and specifics[]

In 1840, Austria signed the Treaty of London. (TOS novel: Federation)

The 1914 assassination of Austria's Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie sparked World War I. (TOS - Year Five comic: "Issue 17")

Adolf Hitler was born in Austria. (ENT novelization: Broken Bow)

22nd century Earth Starfleet Lieutenant Karl Graylock was born in Austria. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night)

24th century Starfleet Lieutenant Christof Schuster was also of Austrian descent. In 2354, he sent his seven-year-old daughter, Elle, to live with cousins in the Austrian city of Salzburg. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)

In 2366, an Austrian skied the Lauberhorn course in the Swiss Alps in 2:21:63, about a minute shy of the world record. (VOY novel: Pathways)

It is unclear whether Austria continued to exist as a distinct political entity on United Earth, or only as a geographic region.
