History[]

On 29 August 1994, a sarin gas attack at the United Nations in Geneva killed Brazil's ambassador to the U.N. (TOS - The Eugenics Wars novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 2)

One of the survivor countries after the World War III, the nation and the people of Brazil decided to join to United Earth as a founder member.

By the mid-22nd century, a language school was located in Brazil. One of the instructors at the school was Hoshi Sato, who was on leave from the United Earth Starfleet prior to being recalled to active duty. (ENT novelization: Broken Bow)

In 2161, Sato planned to retire from Earth Starfleet and return to Brazil two weeks after the Federation's founding. (ENT episode: "These Are the Voyages...")

Governor Gisela Ribiero of Tarsus IV had ancestors from Brazil. (DSC novel: Drastic Measures)

Alternate timelines[]

In a timeline created by Leonard McCoy when he saved the life of Edith Keeler, Brazil was a member of the Treaty Organization of the Americas. When Hawaii was bombed in 1944, Brazil joined the United States, Canada, Mexico, and other nations in declaring war on Germany. (TOS - Crucible novel: Provenance of Shadows)

In the Kelvin timeline according to Khan Noonien Singh, Brazil was the site of a secret Augment genetic engineering laboratory in the 1970s, similar to the Bombay group school that enhanced Khan. In the 1980s the Augments used it as a training facility. (TOS - Khan comic: "Issue 2")

In September 1992 Augment Dictator Asahf Ferris annexed Brazil into the South American Union. By 1996, Alexander Newton took control of the northern third of Brazil for his New American Empire, with the rest being part of the Ferris Dominion. By the end of 1996, the Augment dictatorships were overthrown. (TOS - Khan comics: "Issue 2", "Issue 3")
