Personality[]
Yamanashi is a strict man over the school rules because he has a high level of authority at the school, but he’s still quick to become nervous if questioned or called out in any way, even if he stubbornly puts his foot down about whatever is under question and has higher expectations for Riko Tanemura as he tends to push any work he can off to her (and then brag about how capable she is), and is quick to follow Akashi's new policies when they sound like they're in line with what the school wants, without much critical thinking. He is so greedy with the money he wants is because the parents paying him bribes also benefited from the transaction, in fact, he's addicted to gambling and he doesn't want to get a divorce with his wife.

Chapter 3: Concert for Rulebreakers[]
Yamanashi welcomes Kei Akashi to the school. Unknown to him, Akashi is secretly exploiting Kumi Katayama for his own benefits. He had higher expectations for Riko to be in charge of the students at school and then he unfairly and unjustly suspended Katayama from her job after the incident she didn't do when it's Akashi who set her up.
Chapter 4: Symphony of Gluttony[]
Yamanashi is outraged at Riko for slandering Akashi when he's fearful of his reputation to be ruined all because of of the rumors will go out and in disbelief that someone submitted him to Magatsushin and asking Akashi what to do. Akashi coolly tells him to calm down, because none of it’s true, right? So it won't be an issue. Yamanashi, however, gives a bit of a noncommittal answer, and Akashi smiles, saying there must be some truth to the article after all. Yamanashi panics, telling him to keep his voice down. With a laugh, Akashi adds it would be bad if anyone followed the clues and uncovers anything, and Yamanashi. Akashi wants him to tell him everything clamming he just wanted to help and not want to betray him, but he what was really trying to do is get him to be his supplier for his power so he can used him for his benefits and desires now Yamanashi might be Akashi's new “power source” instead. In Akashi's Palace, Yamanashi's Shadow Self is trapped by the shadows when he inside a new, mouse wheel-like contraption, and the shadows are saying that Akashi will abandon him if he doesn't generate any energy but is rescued by The Phantom Theives.
