Wave Man's Stage is a stage that appeared in Mega Man 5 that has Wave Man as the boss.

Appearances[]

Mega Man 5[]

Wave Man's Stage takes place inside and outside of a water quality management reservoir. The start of the stage is indoors and gimmick-focused, utilizing Teckyuns and high-pressure steam. Teckyuns are anti-gravity mechanisms that swing an iron flail back and forth in a 180-degree pattern, mounted on either the floor or ceiling. The flails are hurtful, but the base and chain swinging them is harmless. High-pressure steam is unique to this stage: there will be small cracks in the floor, and if the player stands close to them, harmful stream jets out to temporarily block the player's path for a few seconds, though Charge Kick can slide through them. While these gimmicks are both invincible, they can be turned into 1-UPs using an M-Tank. At the end of the first room is the entrance to 2 yellow tubes, another unique gimmick which transports the player to different areas depending on which one was entered. The final challenge before heading outside is another unique gimmick: five holes in a giant tube that you stand on. These holes release bubbles that float upward into the sky, until they pop from touching spikes. The second, third, and fifth holes release small bubbles which move quickly but will pop shortly after you stand on it. The first and fourth holes release bigger bubbles that are slower but will not pop when you stand on them. Using these bubbles, you will have to navigate them to avoid spike ceilings.

Upon getting outside, faraway mountains and cities can be seen, and a brand-new unique gimmick is introduced that effectively makes the rest of the stage an autoscroller: Mega Man jumps on a green Marine Bike and cruises along the water surface with it, being able to move left and right (but always facing right), jump, and shoot buster shots out of the Marine Bike. This is where most of the enemy combat takes place, including the game's only mid-boss. Be careful here as you cannot actually pause while using the Marine Bike.

Enemies[]

Image Enemy
Wave Man (boss)
Octoper OA (mid-boss, unique)
Gas (unique)
Teckyun
Giree
V (unique)
Rider Joe (unique)
Irucan (unique)
Twin Cannon

Valuable pickups to look out for:

  • 1-UP: Upon reaching the yellow tubes, take the higher one by jumping over the entrance to the lower one. This places you right in front of the pickup, but there is a crack right in front of it that releases stream as one last surprise if not careful.
  • E/O Plate: After fighting Octoper OA, there will be more combat against the Irucans and Rider Joes. One particular setup has 2 Irucans attacking while this letter appears above the water, moving from right to left. Defeat the Irucans before jumping to grab it, or they will interrupt your jump.

Mega Man (Game Gear)[]

For this stage's Game Gear counterpart, see Wily Castle (Game Gear)

Wave Man's Stage is the first fortress stage of the game. The layout is 1-to-1 with the layout in Mega Man 5.

Trivia[]

  • For some reason, the stage music of Wave Man's stage in the Game Gear game is actually a remix of Gravity Man's stage theme.
