- "Nice timing."
"Oh yeah, that's awesome." - âTony Stark and James Rhodes[src]
The Iron Man Armor: Mark XXXIII, codenamed Silver Centurion, was Tony Stark's thirty-third Iron Man suit. It was an enhanced enegry suit that features hidden blades in its gauntlets. It was part of the Iron Legion and was destroyed during the Clean Slate Protocol
History[]
- "I gotcha covered!"
- âTony Stark to James Rhodes[src]
The Silver Centurion armor was created by Tony Stark after the Battle of New York. Part of the Iron Legion, this was the first suit Stark used in the battle against Aldrich Killian and his Extremis Soldiers. When Red Snapper's destruction caused instability to the oil platform, J.A.R.V.I.S. sent the Centurion armor to protect him.
Using it, Stark nearly rescued Pepper Potts before Killian arrived through the floor. Caught off guard, Killian applied extreme heat to the Centurion's chest, severely damaging it. As he lay there, Stark used the Centurion's "hidden blade" to slice off Killian's arm. The damaged Centurion was left on the floor. It is unclear, due to its damaged state, whether or not the Silver Centurion self-destructed.[2]
Capabilities[]
The Silver Centurion saves more energy than any of the other suits. Tony Stark most likely made this because one of his issues with his suits in battle was that they run out of power. It has blades hidden in the arms that can be used in battle, a design carried over from the Mark XXX. The blades are sharp enough to sever limbs, as could be seen when the armor sliced Killianâs arm cleanly from its socket when he attempted to burn through the suit. This suit was among those that adapted the Mark VII's design of having collapsible parts that allowed the user to step in and out of the suit seamlessly, which would also allow the suit to eject the user on command.
It has a slight protective force field, which allows the suit to attract or repulse objects using its magnetic polarity. The suit is also capable of firing pulse cannons that build in intensity the further they travel.[3]

Behind the Scenes[]
- According to the Mark XXXIII's designer Andy Park, the Silver Centurion armor was the design he was obsessed with as a child, as Iron Man #200, which introduced the suit, was what got him into comic books, and stopped collecting the book when the Silver Centurion armor got destroyed and Iron Man went back to the red-and-gold color scheme. On incorporating the suit into live-action, Park said, "The hardest part to pull off was the drastically different bullet-shape he had in the comic book."[4]
