The Tough Possessor is the sixth (fifth counting only major bosses) boss in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and the second boss of the Treacherous Mansion. It is fought in the Paranormal Dimension. After he makes his way there, Luigi attempts to grab the final Dark Moon shard, but the Tough Possessor takes it away from him, nearly biting off Luigi's hand. He then possesses the suits of armor.
Profile[]
Physical description[]
When possessing the suits of armor, the Tough Possessor appears as generic suits of armor, but with spikes on the armor, and they wield an axe-like weapon. When possessing the giant suit of armor, it is a colossal suit of armor with an orange glow emitting from the helmet, and carries a gigantic sword. Only his feet and sword appear during actual gameplay, and the rest of him is prevented by his size from showing itself.
Outside of the suits, the Tough Possessor is a large, white ghost, with layers of orange and red. The Tough Possessor has five horns, with four on his head being point-curved, and a singular horn pointing out on his forehead.
Personality traits[]
Not much is described about the Tough Possessor's personality traits. What is known was that he was purely focused on killing Luigi with the suits of armor with the Dark Moon's broken state.
Powers and abilities[]
Like all other Possessors, the Tough Possessor can possess other objects. He is the only Possessor to make doppelgangers of himself. When performing a charge attack, he unleashes trails of energy dependent on how many doppelgangers he created, with one for each copy the Tough Possessor had created.
Biography[]
After Luigi captures many hordes of ghosts in Paranormal Chaos, E. Gadd sends Luigi back to the Terrace to enter the paranormal portal to find the final Dark Moon piece. As Luigi is dragged into the portal to fight the final Possessor.
Battle[]
Combat[]
Luigi is transported into a room with five suits of armor. The center armor is holding the final Dark Moon piece. As Luigi tries to collect it however, the Tough Possessor appears and snatches the piece, but Luigi pulls his hand away before the Tough Possessor can sever it with his bite. He then possesses two suits of armor.
In the first two phases, Luigi needs to lure all suits of armor onto a single carpet and trip them up all at the same time by pulling on it with his Poltergust 5000. The suits attempt to attack Luigi with their weapons, but are slow when they strike, so Luigi can use his speed to sidestep the attacks.
Whilst possessing the giant suit of armor in the final phase, Luigi needs to lure each foot onto a separate carpet, and quickly trip up each foot. This time, he needs to lure the feet onto different carpets and pull on them with his Poltergust 5000.
When forced out of the suits of armor, the Tough Possessor charges at Luigi once, but emits trails of electricity and the number depends on how many doppelgangers he created, which in turn is dependent on the round. Once he is captured, Luigi collects the final Dark Moon piece.
Aftermath[]
Professor E. Gadd tries to teleport Luigi back to his bunker, but fails when King Boo interrupts the transmission, bringing Luigi into his illusion, where Luigi has to fight and defeat King Boo once more.
Biography[]
- "This ghost was able to possess multiple suits of armor at once! An impressive feat! I was slightly less impressed when he tried to squish Luigi."
- —Professor Elvin Gadd's notes
