Alveus, also known as Hive, is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside John Garrett) of the TV series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..
He is a parasitic mind-controlling Inhuman created by the Kree and whose existence inspired the foundation of HYDRA. Returning to Earth after being banished to another planet, he intended on recreating the original Kree experiments so he could transform a portion of the human race into his mind-controlled Primitives and then seize control of the world for the Inhuman race.
He was portrayed by Jason Glover in his original human form, Dillon Casey while possessing the corpse of Will Daniels, and primarily by Brett Dalton while possessing the corpse of Grant Ward.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Heinous?[]
- He regularly eats and kills people in order to survive whenever it's either taking over their bodies or eating their flesh for many years.
- He is ultimately the one responsible for the creation of HYDRA in the entire franchise. By founding HYDRA, in the long run, Hive was indirectly responsible for enabling the villainies of Red Skull, Arnim Zola, Alexander Pierce, John Garrett, Grant Ward, Daniel Whitehall and Crossbones.
- He attempts to enslave all of humanity.
- It's implied that he took part in an all-out war that destroyed the planet's civilization which lead to Will's friend's death.
- He drove Will's three friends insane to the point where two committed suicide and the last one in self-defense. Due to this, Will ends up being stranded on the planet for 14 years due to trying to evade Hive.
- He kills Will and takes over his corpse to buy Jemma time in order to escape through a portal back to her team on Earth.
- He sadistically kills Gideon's daughter in front of him, and then later kills Gideon for outliving his usefulness.
- He kidnaps Dr. Holden Radcliffe to recreate the same Kree experiment that made him who he is today, which ends up accidentally killing some HYDRA leaders who helped bring him back despite the fact he wasn't happy and wanted to reward them for helping him.
- He brainwashed Quake and Hellfire leading them into committing various crimes that both played a huge role and an impact in both seasons 3 and 4.
- He kills off the Malick family.
- He tries to bleed Daisy to death after he defeats her.
- In his final attempt, he tries to turn three continents' worth of people into brainwashed deformed Inhumans (which are called Primitives) by blowing up a plane with a virus-containing warhead onboard from 100,000 feet in the air.
- His actions have a big impact caused by most of the events of the series as well as a big part of the rest of the MCU. This also makes Hive possibly the one responsible for most events in the series.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He has a tragic backstory. He was a regular Mayan hunter who got captured and was subjected to painful experiments by the Kree. After liberating his fellow Inhumans and driving the Kree away from Earth, humanity ended up starting a civil war out of sheer paranoia due to his power to hypnotize people and then excommunicated him to the planet Maveth, which eventually became a barren wasteland after its entire civilization destroyed itself trying to kill him. This is the main reason why HYDRA was made.
- He is genuinely affable as he always speaks in a polite tone towards his allies and even his enemies.
- He is a well-intended extremist who wanted to create a utopian paradise for all Inhumans to live in. Further proving this is when Hive stated that all he ever wanted was to make the world better, Lincoln believes him before their deaths.
