~ Hawkman to Doctor Fate |
Carter Hall, also known as Hawkman, is one of the three deuteragonists (alongside Adrianna Tomaz and Doctor Fate) of the 2022 DC Extended Universe film Black Adam.
He is an archaeologist, museum curator, and the leader of the Justice Society. Carter is also the current living incarnation of Prince Khufu.
He is portrayed by Aldis Hodge.
Biography[]
Background[]
Thousands of years ago, Carter Hall was the legendary prince Prince Khufu. He was later resurrected. Ater becoming a vigilante, Carter met Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate and Al Pratt/Atom-Smasher. Carter and Kent became very close friends and they formed the Justice Society of America, which attracted them fans. During his time as a vigilante, Hawkman became partners with a man named Jeremy. As a vigilante, Jeremy supported Carter when the Justice Soceity went their seaparate ways for unknown reasons.
Black Adam[]
Personality[]
Carter is a very serious individual and intimidates his enemies while protecting innocent lives at all cost. However, he is also a sentimental person, as he immediately mourned for his fallen friend Kent Nelson and worried that his partner Jeremy would die at Craddock's hands. Despite his rather serious demeanor, Carter was understanding and kind to Maxine Hunkel when he first met her, understanding how nervous she was when they first met. He was willing to ever give her a second chance to join the Justice Society. Ironically on the other hand, he did not have a lot of respect for Al Rothstein, whom he instantly reprimanded for accidents like destroying a statue, and was Hawkman's first guess at who was going to die in Kent's prophecy.
As a vigilante, Hawkman had a black and white morality view on the world, believing it was divided into two groups: heroes and villains. The first time meeting Teth-Adam, he immediately saw him as a threat when he saw him killing Intergang soldiers. He attacked him various times in the film and would not rest until he was defeated. In return, Hall received complaints from Nelson, Adrianna Tomaz and Adam himself for his short-sightedness. However, Carter realized that Adam was not the true threat and that it was actually the villainous Sabbac. He was even willing to accept his fate of sacrificing himself to save Nelson, who stopped Carter from going through with it. Ultimately, Carter worked with Adam to defeat Sabbac to avenge Nelson. Hall realized that heroes do need to kill, but only when necessary.
