~ McBrusque taunting Papa Mousekewitz. |
Chief McBrusque is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Scuttlebutt) in the 1998 direct-to-video animated film An American Tail: The Treasure of Manhattan Island. He is the overweight and sadistic chief of New York Police Department. He also serves as the main threat to Fievel and his friends.
He was voiced by Sherman Howard.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Kept the factory workers in line in a brutal fashion under the orders of Mr. Grasping, Toplofty and O'Bloat.
- Beat a protestor to death with his baton in the movie's most horrifying moment ever.
- Taunted Papa Mousekewitz by asking him if he was homesick when when the latter compared the beating to being in Russia all over again.
- Attempted genocide on the Native mice underground.
- Threatened to kill Scuttlebutt if he didn't assist him and abused him every step of the way.
- Attempted to burn Fievel alive with a torch while overall sadistically taunting the latter ("Kids shouldn't play with fire...! Ya might get burned..").
- Invokes the trope of Vile Villain, Saccharine Show as the American Tail film he stars in features Fievel at his most adorable.
Trivia[]
- Despite being a secondary antagonist, Chief McBrusque is one of the evilest villains in the American Tail film series (alongside his superiors and Warren T. Rat from the first film) because of his cruelty to the workers and others, even threatening to burn Fievel with his torch during their final confrontation. He is also shown to be much more dangerous than the main antagonist, Mr. Grasping.
