Longsword (ロングソード, Rongusōdo?) is a common recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It is often the first sword that can be bought or is one of the weakest swords. It is normally used by any class that can use a sword. It is sometimes associated with Tidus from Final Fantasy X especially, being his starting weapon with some storyline relevance.

It can be bought in Mythril, Mysidia, Baron (Ceodore's Tale), Damcyan, Kaipo, and Baron (Edward's Tale) for 450 gil, dropped by Sahagin Knight, or found in Damcyan (Edward's Tale). It is initially equipped on Biggs and Wedge (Ceodore's Tale). It can be equipped by Cecil, Ceodore, Kain, and Golbez.

Young warriors who want to stand out from their peers compete with one another in secret to see who can rid themselves of this weapon the quickest by replacing it with a much stronger one.
