*hearty laugh* All right, let's see how much fun we can get out of this!

Muraga

Muraga Fennes is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Sterne) of the first season of War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

Once the chieftain of the Urca tribe, he subsequently became the king of Fennes, earning infamy for his brutality, being called as the King of Savages for his ruthlessness in combat. He leads a strong offensive against the kingdom of Leonis, whom he seeks to crush at all costs, which puts him in direct opposition with the Leonis royals, specially Mont Leonis as he matures fighting the vicious warlord.

History[]

Waking of the Lion - Chapter 1[]

In "Redemption" in "Scene 1 - The Beautiful Steel Maiden", amid their battle with Leonis, Muraga perched atop a rocky cliff, overlooking his soldiers. Muraga was surprised when the esper Ifrit obliterated his squadron, with a shinobi appearing beside him to confirm what he saw. There should not have been anyone in Leonis with the ability to summon an esper, indicating that Machérie was on the battlefield. The shinobi promised to take care of the matter, but Muraga told him to stay out of it as war was for fighting and true pleasure lied in death and bloodbath. He headed to the battlefield where shocked Leonis soldiers surrounded him. Muraga annihilated them with his axe and loudly proclaimed to Oelde that he would take his life for having taken Machérie.

Mont and Lilyth came to a fallen soldier's aid who asked for Mont's forgiveness and explained his wound was Muraga's doing. Lilyth told Mont to take the fallen soldier and leave, as victory was not in their reach. Mont asked if she had no use for him, with Lilyth apologizing and confirming. Mont told Lilyth Muraga was killing soldiers to get Machérie back, and that it was why he could give Muraga no quarter. Lilyth insisted that fighting Muraga would cost Mont his life, to which Mont proclaimed that the Leonis line shall live on, even should they fall afoul of gods to defend it. Mont promised to defeat Muraga, asking Lilyth to lend him her strength. Lilyth would gladly obey as she had swore to be Mont's blade until her dying breath.

In "If We Work Together..." in "Scene 3 - Oath", Lilyth and Schuzelt encountered Muraga, who recognized Schuzelt as a backstabbing knight. Lilyth told Muraga that they saw through his lies. Muraga recognized Lilyth, recalling that she could not beat him. Lilyth told Muraga that she was changed and she was not alone, to which Muraga welcomed the challenge, also entertained by the notion of fighting the First Sword of the Solidus royal guard.

Mont and Machérie arrived to Muraga standing above the fallen Schuzelt and Lilyth. Muraga told Machérie to start begging for her life and exclaim how she could not wait to bear his son. Machérie called him revolting. Muraga brandished his axe and Mont drew his sword. Machérie summoned Shadowlynx who threw a smokebomb. Muraga was caught by surprise as Lilyth downed him, declaring she was prepared for their second dance. Muraga called them craven slugs, promising to pay them back in blood as he walked away.

Chapter 13[]

Muraga marched against the forces of Leonis and Hourne. He spit Arcane Serpents, which Mont and Robb repelled, until Robb took a hit for Mont, and the latter killed the serpent. The bite of that unique serpent was magically venomous that turned its victims onto another serpentine monster, evidenced by Robb's reptilizing skin. Before the venom fully consumed him, Robb begged Mont to kill him but was refused. Machérie tried to commit herself to do it, but Mont relented, not wanting her to carry the sin of patricide. A confused and reluctant Machérie begged Mont to not kill her father, but Mont plunged his blade into Robb, granting his wish. Machérie was devastated.

The Leonis-Hourne forces made an inefficient charge at Muraga, Machérie calling for them to retreat. As their disadvantage looked worse, a timely Kitone attacked the mutated Muraga, goading him to eat her as she lunged against the serpentine monster, ending up in his mouth, but was spat aside. Mont pleaded for her to not do something so reckless again but nonetheless requested her help. The forces continued battling Muraga who irradiated light and exploded. Kitone revealed he had Muraga eat the flash bomb she acquired from Shadowlynx. Mont assaulted Muraga with all his might and defeated the monstrous warlord, Machérie astonished at the feat.

As Muraga was left fatally wounded, Mont tried to finish him off, but Oldoa stepped in, begging Mont to not kill him, as Muraga would soon die and she wanted to bid him farewell. Mont withdrew, telling Kitone to treat her wounds. Mont told Machérie that he needed to leave and she wondered if it was to face Sterne, to which Mont left without replying, leaving her to beg him to return safely. On the deserted battlefield Oldoa stayed by Muraga's side until Melnia appeared, casually commenting that Muraga was finally dying. Oldoa begged Melnia to treat Muraga with kindness before he passed, but Melnia refused to show any kindness to a monster, instead gloating that she would be the queen of Fennes. She assured Oldoa her position would remain unchanged and left.

Muraga tried to call out to Melnia as he was too weakened to see anymore, and pleaded to hear her one last time. Oldoa feigned being Melnia and tenderfully told Muraga she loved him, seemingly sharing her own true feelings. An alleviated Muraga was grateful before leaving in Fennes in "Melnia's" hands as he passed away. Oldoa wept and mourned his loss.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

Muraga is a middle-aged tanned and muscular man. His physique as per his official artwork is almost deformed with a thin waist yet an exceptionally large torso, which develops into massive arms. He is barechested and wears a suit of golden armor that protects his stomach and has spiky golden shoulder protectors, some branching into long horns. Muraga wears a golden horned helmet and dons a long white cape with a purple lining, a pair of white pants with multiple laces along with armored brown boots and brown gloves. His weapon is a two-handed axe as tall as himself.

In his Crystalite Beast form, Muraga is a purple-skinned reptilian monstrosity with a cobra-like head and small feet. His head has a golden, spiked adornment almost resembling a throne. His limbs have mutated into four large serpent heads that sprawl from behind his lower section, and which can be used to maul his foes and even to spit snake monsters.

On his younger days, Muraga dressed similarly to his present day, except with more streamlined armor, the gear around his neck has a more elaborate design, his hands were not gloved, and he sported an array of flowing purple clothing with white and golden adornments in his arms, chest, and around his waist. He did not wear a helmet, which revealed his short white hair.

Personality[]

Muraga lives up to his infamy of the King of Savages, for he is a merciless brute who finds delight in massacring his opponents. Although many consider him little more than a violent regent, he is far smarter, well aware of politics and war, and is under no circumstance a person to be underestimated. Arrogant and proud of his strength, he is fearless and destroys whoever gets in his way and generally looks down on his foes. He is treacherous and forms alliances as a means to destroy his allies and cement his power.

Muraga is capable of trusting and loving others, however, showing confidence in Oldoa, a distant relative, whom he made one of his generals and part of his royal guard, and having felt genuine unrequited love towards Melnia, who only desired power. About the only person he shows open respect and loyalty to is Sadali, whose magical proficiency and intelligence he fears, obeying his every command.

Muraga has a murderous hatred towards Leonis, bent on destroying it and particularly its royal family. It is not known whether his obsession is rooted on the small nation's resilience, or if there is a deeper meaning behind. Suffering repeated defeat at the hands of Leonis fuels his sense of humiliation, which powers the magic armor Sadali gave him, making him increasingly more feral and volatile, killing even his own men on fits of rage. In this state Muraga must be directed carefully to the object of his hatred, Mont in particular, who managed to best him in combat.

When turning into a monster at the apex of said fury, Muraga loses almost any trace of reason and whatever remains of his humanity, becoming a true monster in every sense of the word, driven purely to murder Mont for defying him. Muraga regains his sanity as he nears his death, and shows a rare moment of vulnerability as he begs Melnia to listen one last time.

During his younger days, Muraga was as brutal and vicious in combat, yet his unpolished language betrayed a lack of formal education. Having ascended to the throne of Fennes as a result of the vacuum left by the main Fennes royalty losing its life in combat, Muraga was the peculiar case of a king not well versed in the customs otherwise expected of someone of his position. It is thus hinted that Sadali's intervention might have brought much needed intelligence and logistics, explaining Muraga's loyalty to him.

The king of Fennes, the country of savages that controls the frontier lands. He believes Leonis's ancient relic is the reason that Fennes can't defeat Leonis despite its overwhelming military strength. Boss[]

Muraga is a recurring boss during season one. He appears as an Earth-elemental Viking unit. When first encountered, he is at a massive lvl 80, far eclipsing most players by the time they meet him, but is of little concern as his stats are adapted for a lesser leveled party to beat him.

Crystalite Beast Muraga is faced twice in season one's chapter 13, scene 2. He is a Dark-elemental enemy with 30,000 HP and walks alongside its four serpentine heads, his Former Right Arm, Left Arm, Right Leg, and Left Leg, all sporting 8,000 HP each, and also Dark. Muraga resists all attack types although sports less Slash resistance, while each former limb has different type of resistance, although all foes are weak to Light. In his first fight, he is accompanied by Fennes Archers and Arcane Serpents and must be depleted to half his HP to win. The second time he is by himself but must be defeated completely.

The former limbs will typically act in quick succession, which can culminate in a series of up to four attacks against a single target, increasing the overall damage as a result of the chain. The limbs can damage and either debuff DEF/SPR or even cause Paralysis. The limbs can bestow a series of buffs on all members. Conversely, when each head is defeated, the rest of the parts suffer a debuff, but also gain other buffs to compensate for its absence. Muraga is able to inflict damage and Disable around himself through Crystalite Gaze.

The Four Warring Lords
The Four Warring Lords from WotV vision card

The Four Warring Lords.

Among the warring states of Ardra, there are four kings said to stand above the rest.
There is King Robb of westerly Hourne, with his vast dominion and great military might, who is known to be a broad-minded man. To the east is King Khury of Wezette, who is prudent yet high-strung and governs strictly over a frigid land, and whose kingdom has since many generations prior been in an antagonistic relationship with Hourne.
Between these two nations is Fennes to the north—ruled by the violent and bold King Muraga—and Leonis to the south—ruled by King Oelde, who has established a presence despite governing a small nation thanks to his resourcefulness and strategic ingenuity.
These four nations preserve a balance nigh miraculous, and while there has yet to be a major war to date, the equilibrium is now gradually collapsing as Lord Sadali of the Crystal Sanctum begins to take action.

Echoing Screams

Echoing Screams.

Wielding a battle axe too massive for any typical soldier, Muraga takes great pleasure in the death and destruction he brings upon the world. He ends lives indiscriminately with each swing, and everything standing in the way of his advancing army shatters into pieces. He doesn't hesitate to light villages aflame, and the sight of him sneering as he slaughters the fleeing villagers with his battle axe is more terrifying than any monster. Nearly all who have seen such a sight never lived to tell the tale, and the soldiers of Fennes's army breathe not a word about Muraga. However, the screams of the poor souls caught in his onslaught are said to traverse mountains; those who hear them are gripped with fear, their minds flooded with images of Muraga's terrible wrath.

Exorcists.

"Lord Muraga, those weird louts are here again."
"Foolish demons, we'll send 'em crawling back to hell! To arms, Oldoa!"
"Yes, Your Fierceness!"

In some regions, stemming from a fear of monsters with unique traits such as commanding spirits or draining the blood of their victims to gain power, there is a long-standing custom of donning the appearance of such monsters at festivals in the hope of being bestowed with beyond-human power.
In recent years, however, during a certain season in cities where this custom no longer thrives, there are reports of demons dressed in curious attire parading through the streets as if they own them, reveling all night long and causing general chaos.
It is said that people in the regions that still practice the old customs are now called upon to head to the cities and scare the demons back into hiding.
