The Bullengrube, also known as Bullengrube Hole,[1] is a location in the Savage Divide region of Appalachia in Fallout 76. It will be implemented in the upcoming playable ghoul update.
Background[]
A natural formation consisting of a large lake, a waterfall, and several more waterways heading north before terminating at its origin in the mountain, the Bullengrube is a natural water source that is still inhabited by many fish. A Vertibird crashed in one of the upper pools at some point, though the lake at the bottom is still rather pristine.
Around the 2090s, a wastelander named Leroy followed up on stories his grandfather used to tell about a treasure in the mountains, originating from the 1950s. Although he reached the underground cave at the Bullengrube where the steamer trunk was hidden, Leroy found that he was unable to hold his breath long enough to make it back out of the cave, and eventually died in it.[1]
Layout[]
The map marker and fast travel point for the Bullengrube is at the main, large lake at the bottom of the waterway. A picturesque waterfall is located here. Next to the waterfall is a tall rock formation. If one dives down in this lake, they will see that it is an incredibly deep lake. Swimming west underneath where the rock formation is found, one will reach a rocky overhang before swimming further, to where they can re-emerge in a cave. There, a skeleton lies next to a steamer trunk and several valuable junk items, such as a Chinese ornamental vase and gold fork, as well as the note To whoever else was an idiot.
Back on the surface, above the waterfall, the stream continues north at various pools. Another waterfall is found at a pond north of the Bullengrube and east of Radiant Hills, where a Vertibird has crashed into the water, and an oil slick has risen to the top. Past this waterfall and further to the north, is where the waterway seemingly originates in the hills, with another pond and waterfall completing the complex.
In the woods to the west of the Bullengrube, and slightly north, there is an unmarked murder scene where a bloodied skeleton (Jamie) hangs from a tree limb next to a strung-up IV pole. The note Scream is found here, facing the skeleton, while the skeleton's four limbs are each hung individually from other trees directly across from it.
Notable loot[]
- To whoever else was an idiot - Note, next to a skeleton in the covered cave underneath the main lake. To access it, look for a tall rock formation beside the waterfall. Swim underneath it before reaching a rocky overhang, continue swimming west, before the "ceiling" allows the player to re-emerge.
- Scream - Note, at the unmarked murder scene to the west and slightly north of the Bullengrube, on a post facing the skeleton.
Appearances[]
The Bullengrube appears only in Fallout 76.
