The baton is a weapon in Fallout 4.

Background[]

Batons were a staple of the arsenal assigned to designated security forces in various Vaults around the Commonwealth pre-War, along with the 10mm combat pistol. The Institute would later supply them to their synth field soldiers with additional upgrades.

Characteristics[]

A basic, one-handed melee weapon with a medium-rate swing speed. It can also be modified to deal electrical damage with the right perks.

  • Apart from one's fists, the Security variant is likely to be the first melee weapon acquired in the game, as at least two are found within Vault 111 after exiting the cryo-pod.
  • The two security batons found in Vault 111 have a rare quality, in that they are automatically equipped and favorited whenever they are picked up, due to the player character normally lacking a Pip-Boy while in Vault 111 until reaching the blast door, and thus unable to manually equip the weapon.
