The AmmoPoints Ammo Converter is a workshop object that first appeared in the Fallout 76 update The Legendary Run.
Characteristics[]
The Ammo Converter is an orange and blue machine that has a terminal attached to the main converter, which offers AmmoPoints by converting used ammo or spending AmmoPoints on new ammo.
Upon accessing the terminal, the player character will be prompted to either buy or sell ammunition. The Converter also explains the AmmoPoints virtual credit system. Each machine can hold a maximum of 100,000 points. The player character may interact with the actual machine itself, in which case it will spin some ammunition around, before dispensing new ammunition. One can then choose their specified ammunition type, however, they must sell in specified quantities.
Upon choosing to either buy or sell ammunition, the player character will be prompted to choose from the following categories of ammunition:
- Ballistic Ammo - Higher Power
- Ballistic Ammo - Lower Power
- Energy Ammo
- Explosive Ammo
- Other Ammo - Higher Power
- Other Ammo - Lower Power

Crafting[]
An ammo converter may also be constructed in a C.A.M.P.
Locations[]
It can only ever be crafted at a C.A.M.P. and can be unlocked by:
- Learning the plan, which is sold by both Mortimer for 1250 gold bullion () with a Raiders reputation of at least Friendly, and by Minerva for 938 gold bullion () during her third week of Emporium and fourth week of Big Sale.
- Can be bought in the Atomic Shop for 500 Atoms.
Notes[]
- The Ammo Converter was previously unlockable upon reaching rank 5 during Season 1: The Legendary Run. With the release of the One Wasteland For All update, a plan for the Ammo Converter was integrated to the game for those who did not unlock it during the previous season.
- On July 2, 2020, Jeff Gardiner stated on Twitter that the developers were looking into ways to make the Ammo Converter more user-friendly, following negative reception about the UI and functionality of the Converter.[1]
- The Converter does not produce alien blaster rounds, camera film, fusion or plasma cores, and paddle balls.
- The Ammo Converter appears to be specifically designed for Vault Dwellers, making mention of both C.A.M.P.s and stash boxes in the introductory terminal entry.
- In patch 1.3.3.24, the AmmoPoint capacity was raised from 2000 to 100000, with additional options of being able to buy and sell 10x and 100x more ammunition to all ammunition types.
Bugs[]
- No ammunition will be added if the player character is well over their max carry weight limit, and AmmoPoints spent are effectively wasted.[verified]
