"Gamma 2's Resolve" (ガンマ2号の覚悟 Ganma Ni-Gō no Kakugo) is the 98th chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga.
Summary[]
As the others come up with some kind of plan, Android 18 strikes Gotenks hard into Cell Max, headbutting the android directly on the weak point, producing some cracks on Cell Max's head. Meanwhile Gamma 2 plans to sacrifice himself to deliver the final blow, gathering all his energy from above and driving himself through Cell Max. With the cooperation of the rest of the team who attempt to distract him, Cell Max is put in a position for the charged-up Gamma 2 to strike, but he is spotted and blocked at the last second, only managing to take off Cell Max's arm.
Enraged, Cell Max tries to stomp Gamma 2's lifeless body, but Piccolo intervenes, returning to his Orange Piccolo form to hold up Cell Max's foot. Krillin reminds him of his gigantification technique from the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament and encourages him to use it. Upon growing to an equivalent size of his opponent, Piccolo throws Cell Max backwards.
Seeing Piccolo's giant state, Gohan believes that victory is now a sure thing, but Piccolo tells him that growing in size does not actually increase his strength. He hands Gohan the last Senzu Bean telling him that he could be the strongest in the world if he were only to put his mind to it. He decides to bet everything on Gohan's power, asking him to show his true power. However, before Gohan can take the bean, Cell Max blasts Piccolo's arm and the bean is sent flying. Cell Max attacks the group before anyone has the chance to catch it, grabbing Gohan by the leg and slamming him into the ground causing him to drop out of Super Saiyan.
An injured Gohan sees the bean as it is about to fall into the rubble below and gets up to go after it but Pan leaps off the building after it first. At that moment Pan finally learns how to fly and throws the bean her father who eats it. The bean replenishes Gohan's health who transforms back into his Ultimate state and rushes off to rejoin the battle. Piccolo lands some good shots in on Cell Max but is still shown to be outmatched. Gohan charges in and lands a powerful uppercut on Cell max that knocks him down and proceeds to blast him off the building and down into the rubble below.
Piccolo urgently tells Gohan that he will do everything he can to take Cell Max down, and in that moment, Gohan must unleash every last bit of his power into a Kamehameha that will finish the android off. Cell Max then returns seemingly more powerful and angry than ever before.

Movie and Manga Differences[]
- In the movie, Gohan simply takes the Senzu Bean from Piccolo. In the manga, the bean is dropped, and Pan is eventually the one to obtain it and throw it to her father.
- Pan learns to fly while avoiding Cell Max's Disaster Ray attack in the movie. In the manga, she learns when catching the last Senzu Bean.
Trivia[]
- In the initial version of this chapter Gohan appears to be unfamiliar with Piccolo's Great Namekian state while he seemingly had been aware of it previously in "Son Gohan vs. Seven-Three", though he may have been referring to familiarity with Giant Forms in general. This is fixed in the volume release.[1]
- The panel of Gamma 2's attack cutting Cell Max's arm off is based on Akira Toriyama's art for the film.
