"Rizzo for Mayor" is the second segment of the forty-sixth episode of the 2018 version of Muppet Babies. It premiered on September 17, 2021.
Synopsis[]
The Muppet Babies hold an election for Mayor of the Playroom.
Plot[]
The kids are all playing in the playroom when they notice a sticker on Miss Nanny’s shirt. She tells them that she got it when she voted in an election for Mayor.
After Miss Nanny leaves to get snack ready, the Muppets decide to have a mayor election of their own, in which both Rizzo and Summer choose to run. In Summer’s campaign, she promises to make sure that all toys are put away, to lend a helping flipper when needed and introducing a special section for whenever someone’s feeling sad. Rizzo’s campaign promises however were a bit more outlandish, including an acrobatic show, ice cream sundaes every day and a giant swimming pool in the backyard.
When it came to voting, Rizzo became the winner and builds his office in the treehouse. Just then, he gets interrupted by the others who want the ice cream sundaes he promised. But the only problem is that there is no ice cream. So instead, he makes fake sundaes out of meatballs, which doesn’t taste good (except to Gonzo).
Rizzo tries to get back to the treehouse, until Piggy reminds him of the acrobatic show he promised. Summer even cleans up the toys on the stage. He tries getting the chickens to perform, but it doesn’t work. So instead, he tries doing a one-man show, but it’s not as entertaining and ends with him falling off a trampoline into the picnic table.
The others are starting to get skeptical about Rizzo’s so-called ‘promises’. Finally, they ask about the biggest swimming pool in the world, but just brings out the kiddie pool filled with sauerkraut soup. The others are not amused, which leads to Rizzo trying to dig a pool himself, but he ends up hitting a water pipe causing a geyser. Summer then gets an idea for the others to stack up on each other and help him out. Rizzo then jumps off the water right into Summer’s flippers.
By now, Rizzo feels ashamed that he let everyone down and for lying about the promises and heads over to the picnic table. Summer then cheers him up and says they’re glad he told the truth and everyone else forgives him. Afterwards, Rizzo decides to resign as Mayor and instead gave the position to Summer, as she kept all her promises, including cleaning up the toys, lending a helping flipper and making Rizzo feel better.
As her first order of business, Mayor Summer decides to throw a dance party for everyone.
Quotes[]
Gonzo: Hold up, this is just the kiddie pool I used for my last stunt.
Summer: (sniffs) Eww! And it’s full of sauerkraut soup!
Gonzo: Yeah, that stunt was pretty stink-tacular.
