"Partners in Grime" is the sixty-second episode of the first season of Goof Troop.
Synopsis[]
When Pete is told that the catering business brings in lots of money, he and Goofy start their own catering business.
Plot[]
The episode begins at Pete's car lot as Pete announces that today is "Natural Used Car Day" and attempts to sell his cars. Just then, a food truck arrives and as Pete tries to get the driver to leave, the driver comes out and tells Pete he wants to buy a car as he reveals that he plans to sell his food truck and retire from the business due to his wife telling him to stop making way too much money. Upon hearing this, Pete decides to make him a deal: to sell him the food truck so he can make all the money he wants.
At the Goofs' house, Goofy is serving his famous Goofy Burgers (which are known to taste terrible) as Max and PJ are trying to get the other to eat it first, with PJ being the first to get his (while Max hogties him) and Max being the second to get his. Both attempt to feed them to both Waffles and Chainsaw, with no luck. Meanwhile, Peg is angry that Pete bought a food truck. It is also revealed that the truck has no oven, stove or refrigerator, meaning Pete was conned by the old man, but he still thinks he'll be rich with the truck. Pete then recruits Goofy as a chef to make the food (mostly so he doesn't have to pay him), and tells him he can use the money to pay for Max's college funds. He consumes one of the Goofy Burgers by mistake and becomes violently ill due to how terrible the taste is.
Upon recovering, Pete discovers that his kitchen has been stolen, only to see that Goofy is the one who took it for the truck, to Peg’s chagrin. Pete faces his wife’s wrath over a phone call miles away. While Peg tells him he was conned, he tells her that with the money he'll make, she can buy a new kitchen. Meanwhile, Goofy takes Pete's wallet (thinking he'll keep it in good hands) and uses it to buy the food needed for the truck as a surprise. At the butcher shop, Goofy asks for a chicken that Goofy names Henny and is given a cow that Goofy names Chuck along with it and pays for everything with Pete’s credit cards, to Pete’s fury. When he discovers the livestock, Pete tells him that he was supposed to get chicken to cook instead of a living one and Goofy is unable to return them due to Pete ripping up the receipt in anger, so now Pete, Goofy, Chuck, and Henny begin their route to the locations given to them.
When they arrive at the stops the map the old man sold Pete indicates it becomes obvious that Peg was right about Pete being swindled: The first stop is shown to be an old abandoned mine shaft. Then they take a shortcut through an old bridge, but the weight of the truck causes it to fall into a river where the next stop is shown to be in the middle of nowhere. As Pete wonders where everybody is, he sees an elderly man who needs water but, rather than giving it to him, Pete reads him the specials on the menu. However, Goofy comes and gives the thirsty man a glass of water for free which upsets Pete as they could have charged him double for the water.
Still on the road, Pete discovers that Goofy read the map upside down and they are further away from Spoonerville, with no other choice but to stay in a motel until morning so they can get home. Pete calls Peg to assure her the plan is working. Later that night, Pete is shown to be half asleep as he mistakes Goofy for Peg and almost kisses him, resulting in him waking up and leaving the room. He decides to sleep outside, not realizing until the next morning that he was actually sleeping on a railroad track as Pete nearly escapes the incoming train.
After returning back to the motel, Pete discovers that both Henny and Chuck stole the truck in an attempt to escape Pete and Goofy. Pete then chases Henny and Chuck with a milk truck that Goofy bought from the milkman using Pete's credit card. After a high speed chase and finally capturing Henny and Chuck, Pete spots a state fair and decides to fire Goofy and the animals to keep the profits for himself. Just then a rancher appears and buys both Chuck and Henny from Goofy for $100,000, which Goofy can add to Max's college fund.
As Pete continues to drive to the fair, the truck starts to fall apart due to the chase from earlier and to make matters worse, Pete notices numerous food trucks also arriving as he tries to be the first one there, but unfortunately the truck breaks down and all the food trucks make it there first, resulting in Pete crying for his loss.
Later at home, Pete admits to Peg that she was right about the old guy conning him with the food truck and tries to make it seem that because he himself cons others, he knows when to cut his losses (With Peg, Max and P.J. looking unimpressed), until Pistol points out that it cost him buying a new kitchen, all the food in the truck, Henny, Chuck, the milk truck and paying both the rent for the motel he and Goofy stayed at and the tow truck Pete called to bring him and Goofy back home. Enraged about how much Pete lost, Peg adds that she and Pete are going to talk about the "losses" he had to cut. Just then Goofy arrives to offer everyone his burgers, causing them to scream in terror and run away.
