Black Manta (Injustice)

Black Manta is an undersea criminal, making him an enemy of Aquaman and Atlantis.

History

Before Black Manta became Aquaman's greatest enemy, his father was killed by Aquaman, sparking the vendetta that Manta held for the Atlantean and beginning his career as a criminal.

At some point before Superman set up his regime, Black Manta was arrested and forced to join Suicide Squad. He was on the team with Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang. He also helped the Joker in recovering the Amulet of Apophis from Marianas Trench, which the clown used to attack the Justice Society of America.^[1] After the death of Jay Garrick, the Justice League tracked him down and Wonder Woman forced him to point where he took Joker to.^[2]

During the fifth year of Superman's regime, Harley attempted to call her former Suicide Squad members, one of those calls going to Black Manta, however his mask rested at the bottom of the ocean, implying he had perished.^[3]

However, Manta revealed himself to be alive and well during Brainiac's invasion, hiding outside Atlantis, prepared to smack anyone who is sent hurdling in his path.^[4]

Possible Post-Brainiac Epilogue

This section of history takes place in a timeline outside that of normal Injustice canon.
Upon beating "Classic" mode in Injustice: Gods Among Us or "Multiverse" mode in Injustice 2 with any playable fighter, the player would receive a possible alternate ending to the game's story featuring their fighter. These alternate histories should not be seen as relevant to future sequels or comic adaptations.

"Brainiac stole Atlantis. For that, I could have thanked him. But that wasn't enough. Arthur Curry's kingdom had to be wiped from history. Forgotten. Lost. As it should be. I found just the place, guarded by Earth's most savage predators. Once upon a time, Arthur Curry killed my father. Now that I've killed his kingdom, all that remains is to kill "the king" himself. Only then will I consider my father's murder avenged. Only then will I rest."

"And what of Aquaman? Does he come forward to avenge his own people? No. He hides behind an alien and an amazon. Let him. It won't save him. Compared to that alien freak Brainiac, these three will be fish for the slaughter. And when they're dead, the world can thank Black Manta."
