Duskspine is a D-Side variant of Hardshell. He was created by HalOfJustice and designed by RAY__nbow.
Duskspine is a sentient entity powered by SOLVOID ESSENCE, which is a strange mix of solar energy, VOID ESSENCE, and dark matter. His main goal is to infect the rest of Sonic's friends with SOLVOID ESSENCE through deception and espionage.
The Alien[]
Duskspine is an agent employed by the SOLVOID hivemind to infect Sonic and his friends so that SOLVOID can consume the entirety of an alternate version of Mobius. He does this through spreading the SOLVOID ESSENCE that fuels him into Sonic's friends. After this occurs, they are aligned with the SOLVOID hivemind and become a Descendant.
Duskspine is extremely intelligent and has a philosophical view on life. Despite this, he still carries out the purpose he was intended to serve. Duskspine sort of lives in slow motion. His brain is so developed, that his analytical skills are that almost one-hundred-fold of a typical Mobian. This gives him, not only a more strategic mind, but a more multi-faceted one as well.
Duskspine is fueled by SOLVOID ESSENCE, which is a strange mix of solar energy, VOID ESSENCE, and dark matter. This insidious mixture turned this new form of matter into an infectious kind. Any organism who came into contact with it had its mind and instincts overridden by it. It's unknown whether or not SOLVOID ESSENCE is manned by a higher overlord. There are signs that point towards that conclusion, but it's uncertain as to the legitimacy of the larger claim.
Duskspine's story takes place in a universe called Mobius-1525 X-1, in a multiverse separate from the original Hardshell. This multiverse is centered around the D-Side Sonic universe rather than the basic Sonic universe.
Appearance[]
Duskspine, in his Base form, appears similarly to Shadow. His quill highlights have turned orange, most likely as a result of his infusion with SOLVOID ESSENCE. His shoes have morphed into something more akin to Sonic's shoes, only with a strange altered color palette.

The Descendants[]
The Descendants is the group name of all of who have been infected by SOLVOID ESSENCE.
To become a Descendant, Duskspine, or another Descendant, must implant a Mobian or other animal with SOLVOID ESSENCE. The implanted SOLVOID ESSENCE will absorb itself into the organism and take over its brain. The SOLVOID ESSENCE will then move to the outer body and modify the host's appearance. Once this process is complete, the Mobian or animal becomes a Descendant.
Descendants are similar to zombies. Both can easily spread the infection to non-infected bodies, and both are pretty much mindless murder machines intended to snuff out any and all traces of life.
