Sonic.exe (referred to for simplicity as “Canon” Sonic.exe) is the variant of Sonic.exe that has been referenced in a couple of notable cameos on the official Sonic Twitter account over the years. This entity is, by technicality, the official variant of the infamous creepypasta himself. Little is known about this enigma, but it shows that the Sonic development team are more than aware of the horrors that the community creates.
The God
This variant can be assumed to be somewhat similar to Crimson's Sonic.EXE due to the choice of red shoes over the original's distinct grey or black. However, it is implied to be less gorey than described in the original story due to the removal of the blood from his eyes.
The Tale
Sonic.exe is a well-known creepypasta character created by JC the Hyena. Said creepypasta gained insane popularity and infamy over time, becoming a horror icon of the early 2010s. Being a derivative of the Sonic franchise, this piece of media was bound to be known by the company, SEGA. That being the case led to acknowledgement by the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account. Due to the community's running gag known as “Everything is Canon”, which consists of every piece of Sonic media being canon in some way shape or form thanks to a tweet[1] by the Sonic Twitter Account, the EXE community has dubbed this variant of the character as “canon” Sonic.exe.
Trivia
- The Gif featuring Sonic.exe and Big the Black Cat includes a recording of both Sonic 1 and a ROM hack called Sonic 1.EXE Reborn.
- Sonic 1.EXE Reborn was presumably never finished as the only ROM available is a preview.
- Funnily enough, it was created by POTTERANDMATRIXFAN, the same person who created ANTI.DLL.
- Sonic 1.EXE Reborn was presumably never finished as the only ROM available is a preview.
- A constant trait of this character's appearance is that he lacks the iconic blood in his muzzle the original Sonic.exe is known for having. This is especially notable in his first appearance, where SEGA intentionally went out of their way to remove the blood from the sprite shown in the hack.
