Birdie!

Officer Keys is a supporting character of Big City Greens. He is Big City's optimistic and friendly neighborhood police officer. He first appeared in "Cricket Versus".

Appearance[]

Physical[]

He is a muscular and tall purple-skinned man. He has a mustache (which is rounded post-"Uncaged") and purple hair which is buzz-cut.

Attire[]

He wears a blue police uniform, which may be the standard for the police force.

Personality[]

Officer Keys is the long and friendly arm of the law. He is best known for his cheerful and laid-back personality. He always appreciates his job and the law that he abides by, to assure that he is keeping Big City safe under most circumstances. However, he will not hesitate to display a serious side, where he adopts an authoritative tone, raising his voice to do so, before reverting to his normal happy character shortly afterwards. In some episodes, though, he will try to give others a chance to hurry up before he loses patience. Officer Keys sometimes doesn't take his job seriously, and sometimes he can punish people unnecessarily. This feature of him was first seen in the "Blue Tater" episode.

Serious side[]

Although Keys is normally a goofball or slacker in most of his appearances, there are times where he actually does his job or gets serious or otherwise, tough.

  • In "Gramma's License", he finds Alice's driver's license expired and sentences her to be re-certified.
  • In "Uncaged", he threatens to send Nancy back to jail if he catches her breaking a law again.
  • In "Green Streets", he takes Cricket's idea of getting tough too far, and turns against him upon learning Cricket himself was the litterbug running amok.
  • In "Reckoning Ball", he steps right in front of the Greens as they are threatened by Chip Whistler's wrecking ball, threatening to arrest him for attempting murder.
  • In "Heat Beaters", he rescues Cricket and Remy from the heatwave before they die from a heatstroke.

Trivia[]

  • He shares the same voice actor as Chip in the Castilian Spanish and Swedish dubs.
  • In "Greens' Acres", it is revealed that he became a police officer because an arcade manager was talking to Russell Remington telling him he should be a police officer, and thought that the manager was talking to him, even though he wasn’t.
  • He suffered a slight redesign, until "Gargoyle Gals", his face was more angular, was drawn sightly different and his mustache had sharp edges. Starting from "Uncaged", his face was more rounded and his mustache has rounded edges, the design we know now.
  • "Blood Moon", "Green Christmas", and "Virtually Christmas are the only double-length episodes where Keys did not appear.
  • The closed-captions in "Greens' Acres" spell his name as "Officer Keyes", hinting that that's his real last name and "Keys" is just a stage name.
