Read With Me/Dance With Me is a Barney Home Video that was released on April 8, 2003.
Plot[]
Read With Me![]
The kids are holding a book drive to collect more books for the caboose's library. Once they had enough books, they decided to go inside the caboose to put a few in the library. Once they went inside, they spotted Baby Bop, who was trying to be a helper by putting a book on the top shelf, by hopping. Even though she couldn't reach the top shelf, Sarah suggests she can still be a good helper by handing her books, while she stands on the ladder putting books away. As Baby Bop helps, she becomes intrigued by a book's cover. But, because Baby Bop can't read yet, she can't learn any of the stories. Barney suggests that she pick out a few books as he and the kids show her what the books are about, which gives her the chance to look at the books in the future and understand what they're about. The first book she wants to know is "What Will We See At The Zoo?", a book that details animals at the zoo. Afterwards, Baby Bop wants to know about "The Woman Who Flew" book. Given that Sarah is familiar with the story, she volunteers to help tell the story with Barney's help. After the story, Sarah tells her that people can't fly in baskets, but Nick interrupts to mention that people fly in rockets, further prompting a discussion about the book "Flying High in the Sky". Baby Bop mentions that the astronaut on the cover looks like Gianna, further prompting Barney to ask if she could help tell the story. Gianna decides to help tell the story as she pretends to be an astronaut flying in a make-believe rocket. Baby Bop mentions that she's going to think of Gianna whenever she reads the book, prompting Barney to hint that more books are being donated for their book drive. Baby Bop goes over to the book drive and looks at a book called "Old MacDonald's Farm". Baby Bop eventually turns to the back of the book and sees the author and illustrator, leading Barney and the kids to explain those terms to her. Nick thinks it'll be fun to make his own book someday, and Barney encourages that they can all make their own books today, leading everyone to create their books in the caboose. Gianna made a book about rockets, Sarah made a book about cats, Nick made a book about the moon and stars, Kami made a book about butterflies and Baby Bop made a book about the circus. While Baby Bop made a circus book, there aren't any pictures inside, leading the others to help give her ideas for what to put inside by putting on a circus. After they're done, she leaves so she can start putting pictures inside her book. Glad that they were able to help Baby Bop, Barney and the kids see that more books have been added to the book drive.
Dance With Me![]
As the kids pretend that Barney is Old King Cole, dancing and singing, they hear more great music for dancing in the park. They go outside to see who it is, to realize that it's Barney's old friend Min dancing in the park. Barney introduces Min to Mario, Whitney and Angela. Barney shows an old picture of himself and Min from Season 3 to everyone. Min mentions that she was practicing for a show she was dancing in later in the evening, even explaining the different shoes she wears for dancing. Angela admits that she doesn't think she can dance like Min, leading Barney and Min to hint that she may be surprised as it's just moving to music, leading everyone to try simple dance moves.
Baby Bop eventually ballets her way into the park, with BJ chasing after her. The siblings greet Min upon seeing her with Barney and the others. Baby Bop asks if Min could help convince BJ that he'd have fun dancing ballet with her. While BJ's never tried it, Barney mentions that trying new things is fun to do. BJ mentions that he'll try any dance except ballet. Barney suggests that they all play a game where they listen to Min's radio and dance to whatever music pops up. BJ mentions that they can dance while he plays the music. They listen to jazz, country, and hip-hop music. Barney and Min eventually dance together during the song "Happy Dancin'". Baby Bop wishes that she had a dance partner, hinting for BJ to dance with her. Min mentions that she used to dance with her father when she was little, prompting Min to eventually read "Dancing with Daddy" to everyone. While Min wishes she could stay longer, she had to leave to pickup her dance costume. She says goodbye to Barney one last time and leaves. Barney mentions that dancers all around the world wear different kinds of costumes.
BJ mentions that his favorite dance to do is "The Dino Dance", prompting everyone to join in. Afterwards, Baby Bop wants BJ to do ballet with her, but he still declines. BJ eventually caves in when she mentions that won't ask him ever again. He puts on a tutu to find out that he didn't have to wear it. Barney suggests that he could wear a cool costume and pretend to be a hero in a ballet performance, where they eventually tell the story of a princess, dragon and a dancing hero. BJ, who's dressed as Captain Pickles, eventually grows to like dancing ballet. BJ eventually suggests that he and Baby Bop leave to come up with a new ballet story.
