The Troll is one of the main antagonists in the Stephen King horror/thriller anthology film Cat's Eye.
The Troll is a very tiny troll the size of a mouse or rat. He wears a jester-like hat and leather clothing. He wears bandages wrapped around his feet and carries a dagger as a weapon.
Abilities[]
The Troll can magically appear and disappear from a hole in Amanda’s room. Despite his small size, he can move fast and climb on beds easily. He has the power to steal someone’s breath, such as when he attempts to kill Amanda by stealing her breath.
Biography[]
His arrival and attempts to kill Amanda were foreseen by a stray tabby cat who had visions of Amanda calling out to him to save her. During the cat's journey to Amanda's house, his threat kept being alluded to by the girl's call for help.
He is a tiny troll that mysteriously appears from a magic hole like a mouse and attempts to steal Amanda's breath, but the cat named General battles the troll who is overwhelmed. He throws his dagger at General, making him yowl in pain before fleeing out the window. Then the Troll retreats back to the hole, but however, on the way out the troll kills Amanda's parakeet and escapes.
After General was framed for killing the parakeet, he was sent to the pound to be put down, the cat escapes the pound and rushed back to Amanda's house to rescue her as the troll who returned the very next night to finish what he started. Once again, General battled the troll, as Amanda, upon awakening, screams in fright, alerting her parents as they rushed to her room, only to be blocked out by the door as the Troll locks it. The Troll tries to escape by holding onto some balloons, but General swipes at the tiny creature, causing him to spin right on top of a record player. General sped up the record faster and faster with help from Amanda until the troll could hold on no longer and toppled right into a fan, thus killing him. His splattered remains helped prove General's innocence and allowed Amanda to keep the cat in exchange for the troll’s existence, despite Amanda’s mom stating it was blackmail. Although the Troll was destroyed, Amanda's parents told her not to tell anyone else about the Troll, out of fear that there may be others out there.
Trivia[]
The late Gene Siskel called the Troll a "gremlin" during the review of the film with his partner, the late Roger Ebert.
