Andrew Landon is the overarching antagonist of Lisey's Story. He is the abusive and mentally ill father of Scott Landon.
Biography[]
Andrew Landon was the father of Scott and Paul Landon, raising them alone in a farm house in rural Pennsylvania. Landon's family was cursed with a strange mental illness called "bad-gunky" by Andrew, with one acting out of their own control if they are infected by it. Under its influence Andrew always cut his boys and himself to let it out, while also putting them through weird bravery tests just for fun.
One night, Paul got the "bad-gunky" while reading a book. Paul tried attack Scott, but Andrew saved him. Andrew put Paul in the basement and tied him to there. Andrew told Scott to save Paul by taking him to Boo'ya Moon, but Paul attacked Scott while trying to save him. After that, Andrew shot Paul and killed him.
After Paul's death, Andrew got into a weird state, abusing his son less, drinking more, and remaining silent. One day, a man from Andrew's work place came to the house. He asked about Andrew to Scott, and he told the man Andrew wasn't there, and the visitor gave Scott some money and left.
One night, Andrew got the "bad-gunky" and he came to Scott's room with a pickaxe. Scott hid under his bed and gone to Boo'ya Moon, and when he came back, he found Andrew lying unconscious on a couch drunk. On the couch, Andrew wrote a note telling Scott to kill him and bury him in Boo'ya Man with Paul. Scott then killed Andrew out of love, but failed to bury him in Boo'ya Moon.
Personality[]
Andrew is deranged , delusional, hurtful to others, and sadistic. Despite this, he still loved his sons.
