Everyone has something precious on their heart that they have faith in, and trust. For example, a god, or perhaps a lover. But Human hearts are weak. One trivial event can cause them to easily abandon that faith. And that's evil. Anyone who harbors faithlessness in my presence, no matter who they are, will have their eyes set ablaze.
~ Melascula to Ban

Melascula is a major antagonist in The Seven Deadly Sins and its spinoff sequel, Four Knights of the Apocalypse. She is a snake who became an elite soldier of the Demon Clan, serving for the Ten Commandments directly under the Demon King under the name of Melascula the Faith. She later becomes a servant of Arthur Pendragon known as Chaos Melascula. When fighting with the Four Knights of the Apocalypse, she fuses with Galand, becoming a being known as Melagaland,She is Elaine's arch-nemesis.

She was voiced by Mao Ichimichi/M.A.O. in Japanese and Mela Lee in English.

Biography[]

Melascula was originally a tiny snake but grew into a giant powerful one after bathing in the Demon Realm Miasma for 300 years. Like other demons, she was sealed away in the Coffin of Eternal Darkness for 3000 years until being revived by Fraudrin.

After being revived, her and her group sought to amass more power before making their move on Brittania.

Appearance[]

Melascula was originally a tiny white snake with purple dots and red eyes. After bathing in the miasma of the Demon Realm for 3000 years she evolved into a giant hooded snake.

Her favorite form is a young human woman with straight pink hair. In this form, she wears a sleeveless leotard with a pink bowtie. She wears long pink socks on her legs. She is usually surrounded by a cloud of darkness. Though not readily apparent, she also has an abnormally long tongue accompanied by the enlargement of her mouth.

Personality[]

Melascula is a loyal member of the Demon Clan, though seemingly cares more about herself than them. She is cruel, sadistic and possesses no redeeming qualities unlike most villains in the franchise. She enjoys bring people back from the dead and corrupting their souls, turning them into deranged zombies. She has no concern over who she hurts and becomes extremely anger if thing don't go her way, akin to a spoiled child throwing a tantrum.

Like many demons, Melascula is arrogant and views other races as inferior. Additionally, she enjoys playing her victims before killing them. When she and Galand are trying to kill Ban, Jericho and Elaine, the duo try to kill them by playing golf with borders. She tortures Meliodas before attempting to murder him (even though Estarossa didn't give her approval.) She also plays a quiz game with Meliodas later on and says if he gets the question right, she'll let him go (which is something she probably wouldn't do anyway.)

Melascula would rather send others to do her work for her than do it herself. She relies on lesser demons and her revived humans to carry out her quests. She even refers to the as "bees gathering her honey.".

Melascula seems to be egocentric about her looks, shown by how she takes the form of a beautiful young woman despite this form being less powerful. She is desperate to revert to her form after Escanor rips off her skin and demands Gloxinia to heal her. After her jaw is dislocated by Ban, she becomes very spiteful towards him. Her narcissism is further shown when she goes on a tantrum and threatens to force Ban to live out the rest of his immortal life suffering in her venomous stomach after he insulted her appearance.

Melascula spends her last moments not knowing how she could be beaten by mere humans. Once she's reverted to her true tiny snake form, she tries to slither away but fails miserably. She is mute and unreactive in this form.

When not in battle, Melascula usually puts on a calm facade. She enjoys drinking and playing games with Galand. She gets along with other commandments pretty well and is also frequently an informant for the group. She typically speaks in an elegant, prideful and somewhat flirtatious manner. When angered, she has an unattractive habit of scowling or letting her tongue fly out, showing her true snake-like self.
