Biography[]

Past[]

Slade was an accomplished member of the Special Forces and this distinction earned him admittance into a covert program where he was subjected to extensive mental and physical augmentation. The procedures left him with increased mental function, as well as enhanced speed, strength, healing factor, and stamina.

Following his military service, Wilson worked for various private military contractors before striking out on his own-and allegedly becoming one of the highest paid contract killers in the world, specializing in high profile assassinations. His unique weapons and abilities include quick regeneration and super strength, peak-human speed, a rifle-staff with a built-in grapple, a sword, firearms and his own version of Detective Mode: Tactical Vision.

Pre-Arkham Origins[]

On Christmas Eve, Deathstroke is one of the eight assassins hired by Black Mask (later revealed to be the Joker) to kill Batman for $50 million. After he dispatches several cops, he then lures Batman to a parking garage with an explosive briefcase made by Queen Industries and some of Black Mask's henchmen. He then lays in wait nearby, anticipating the likelihood that Batman would escape the explosion, and proceeded to fight him. Although they fight evenly and fairly, Deathstroke is slowly getting the upper hand, although his sword ends up shot apart by a sniper round from another assassin Deadshot, who had also been contracted with 6 others and Deathstroke to assassinate Batman.

Batman manages to escape so Deathstroke then confront his client with the knowledge that he hired at least one other assassin besides the job, although Black Mask mentions he "had his chance" and that the night is still young before brutally executing one of his henchmen that was severely wounded from the blast by smashing him with rubble.

The Eight Assassins[]

It appears the game is over before it even begins.
~ Deathstroke upon confronting Batman.

On Christmas Eve, Batman learns of the eight assassins that are in Gotham City to claim the bounty on his head. During Batman's search for Penguin aboard his ship, The Final Offer, a grapple claw grips Batman's ankle and drags him towards Deathstroke. Batman and Deathstroke ensue in a long fight with impressive moves with Deathstroke primarily fighting with his Staff and then changing to his Sword after Batman destroys his Bo Staff. Batman then manages to knock out Deathstroke as he asks the Masked Vigilante of what he is and then Deathstroke is taken into custody by the GCPD.

During the riot in Blackgate Prison, Slade is kept imprisoned by Joker whilst doing push-ups due to not trusting the mercenary. When Batman finds him, Deathstroke tells him that he no longer has any interest in assassinating him but, if someone else offers $50 million dollars other than the clown, then he'd considered it. Eventually, Amanda Wall finds Deathstroke and passes him a paper saying "Suicidal Squad", Deathstroke asks what happens if he doesn't sign and she says he either works for her or rots in Blackgate.

Pre-Arkham Knight[]

What exactly happens to Deathstroke over the next ten years is unclear but he likely joined the Suicide Squad as he is not seen in Arkham Asylum during the Joker's rampage nor in Arkham City where all prisoners in Gotham were sent. At some point after the death of the Joker, Deathstroke is approached to become the military advisor to Scarecrow and a militia led by the mysterious Arkham Knight. Ultimately, Deathstroke accepts both for money and for revenge against Batman after the Arkham Knight claims he is "the toughest bastard Batman ever want toe-to-toe with."

Arkham Knight[]

Ten years after the chaos of Christmas Eve, Scarecrow and his militia take over Gotham on Halloween although Deathstroke remains in hiding until the Arkham Knight disappears after Batman defeats him. With no-one else to turn to, Scarecrow makes Deathstroke his military commander in charge of the militia's checkpoints, bombs, and watchtowers throughout the city. When Batman destroys the first Militia Explosive Device after he takes command, Deathstroke reveals himself and that he took payment in advance so losing the Arkham Knight

After all Militia Explosive Devices are destroyed, Deathstroke decides to kill Batman personally so the Dark Knight challenges him to a fight in Grand Avenue. Although Deathstroke arrives in a tank and the last few militia Cobra Tanks, Batman easily destroys each of them. With no other choice, Deathstroke comes out to kill Batman with his sword but Batman manages to stop him and take him to GCPD. On the way to GCPD, Deathstroke says the next time he goes after Batman, he says he will kill him free of charge indicating that he now considers their feud personal. After being taken to the holding cells, he swears revenge on Batman and confirms their feud is personal but never gets the chance as Batman kills himself in the Knightfall Protocol once the last supervillains are captured.

What happened to Deathstroke after Halloween is unknown but it is presumed that Scarecrow later receives life imprisonment for his actions and will spend the rest of his days in Arkham Asylum.
