Chaos are major antagonists in the 2012 video game, Kid Icarus: Uprising.
They are a faction of duplicated beings of pure chaos under the leadership of the Chaos Kin created from its memories it possesses during the events of the war against Hades.
Little is known about Chaos, they are known to be a small affilation within the Chaos Vortex, a realm itself inhabitated by copies created and duplicated to serve the ruler, the Chaos Kin, whose desire is to control bodies it possesses and steal souls to feast upon. At one point, the Chaos Kin was captured by the Forces of Nature and taken to the Lunar Sactum where it is imprisoned and under watch of Arlon. Due to the Chaos KIn's imprisonment, the entirety of Chaos is left leaderless without a ruler.
Kid Icarus: Uprising[]
Following the Lunar Sanctum's destruction and Arlon's death, the Chaos Vortex breaks free from its imprisonment and makes it escape as it remained in hiding observing the war where the factions would be duplicated from its memories through the Chaos Vortex, creating more duplicates to expand the copies in the realm. With the Aurum defeated, the Chaos Kin makes it move as it attacks and possesses Palutena. With Palutena's body under its control, the Chaos Kin extracts Pit's soul to a ring and disposes it out of Skyworld and had his body and the entirety of Palutena's Army fall under its control. Under the Chaos Kin's power, Chaos spread across the overworld where the chaos-controlled forces of Palutena's Army wage war against humanity for three years.
Three years after, Pit awakens to find his body attacking the humans and with Magnus' help, fought through waves of the Underworld and Chaos forces to reach Pit's Body and defeating it where Pit regained control and get to a journey with Viridi's help to save Palutena and stop the Chaos Kin. Though they manage to break the Chaos Kin's possession, but it was able to capture Palutena's soul in time escaping to the Chaos Vortex. Pit was soon joined by Dark Pit as they venture into the Chaos Vortex.
The Chaos Gortex itself will attempt to stop Pit by summoning multiple copies after him including waves of Shadow Pits and Chaos Kin duplicates but he was able to get through them and fought against the Chaos Kin in a duplicated structure. With the Chaos Kin stunned from inadvertently crashing onto a rock, the Chaos Vortex makes another attempt at stopping Pit by trapping it in its grasp. Fortunetsly, Pit makes the finsihing blow to weaken the Chaos Kin and pursue it to the ground area of the realm.
During the ground battle, numerous copies would be summoned bh the Chaos Kin to protect it and fight against Pit whom he fights through. He then reaches the wave area where he fights nine waves of the copies summoned to defeat Pit. By the nineth wave, Dark Pit joins in to help Pit fight through the remaining waves of the duplicates and both met up with the Chaos Kin where they both fought and defeated the parasite. Palutena's soul was return to her body, but the Chaos Kin was not finished yet as it attacks and attempts to eat his soul in its ash form. Without any other options, Pit save Dark PIt's life with a cost of burning his wings.
With the Chaos Kin presumably deceased, the Chaos Vortex is once again leaderless with the Chaos Kin's reign of the realm brought to an end.
Trivia[]
Like the Chaos Kin, it is unknown how, when or why the Chaos faction was formed and it remained unknown what their true intentions are as an army.
