The Topaz is an item and an add-on obtained by synthesizing it at Daguerreo, Black Mage Village (endgame), and in Memoria at the Legendary Synthesis Shop for 100 gil, an Ore, and Eye Drops. It can be found in the Cold Lagoon chocograph (x19) and by using a Dead Pepper at the foaming water below Quan's Dwelling (x15). It drops from Amarant (Mirror), Grimlock (Blue Head), Wraith (Red Flame), Veteran, and Vepal (Red), and is stolen from Amarant (Mirror). It teaches the abilities Ifrit (Dagger) and Fira (Vivi), and when used as an item, restores HP equal to the number of Topazes in the player's inventory x92. One Topaz is also obtained as part of the story.
The more Topazes in the player's inventory, the more powerful Ifrit's Flames of Hell with the full animation becomes, according to the following formula:
