Crush's Coaster: The Game is an interactive online game based on the Walt Disney Studios Park attraction of the same name. The game was released on September 2014 in regards to the long wait times for guests who are on their way to the Crush's Coaster attraction[1], seven years after the attraction opened at the Walt Disney Studios Park area (now in the Worlds of Pixar section as of August 27, 2021).

Unlike other mobile games released as separate apps, Crush's Coaster: The Game was released on mobile devices through the use of web browsers and can only be played when the player has the Disneyland Paris Wi-Fi connection enabled on their device unlike other mobile games, and thus requires an official Wi-Fi connection from the Disneyland Resort Paris itself.

Gameplay[]

After the player has successfully connected to the Disneyland Paris Wi-Fi connection online (and not any other connections) on their device, they are able to play this game and then gain access to the game directly through web browser. Before starting, the player must choose a language of their choice in order to play either in English or French respectively. Once the player has chosen a language of their choice, they must press the "Play" button and then either select a difficulty of their choice: Easy or Normal mode. Even when the player has the Disneyland Paris Wi-Fi connection enabled in their device, they do not have to be physically present in the queue for Crush's Coaster in order to play the game, especially when in line for the attraction.

Throughout the game, players assume the role of Crush, the main character of the attraction who originated from the 2003 Disney/Pixar animated feature film, Finding Nemo. As Crush, the player must move him using their finger to collect stars while swimming across the East Australian Current to earn points along the way while avoiding obstacles throughout the game.

On the top left of the screen are hearts which represents Crush's lives. If Crush collides with an obstacle, the player will lose a heart, causing Crush to flash invincible for a while upon taking damage and the player will not receive extra damage from obstacles when Crush is flashing for a while unless he stops flashing, causing him to resume in normal mode throughout the game.

On the bottom right side of the screen is an orange button known as the shell button represented by a sea turtle shell which can protect Crush from taking damage from obstacles. Once pressed, Crush hides in his shell and the player will not lose any hearts on the top screen, although using it effects the stamina gauge which is located below the lives and when the stamina gauge decreases, Crush resumes in his standard movement while the stamina gauge recharges. The shell button cannot be used once the stamina gauge is recharging, in which the player must wait for the gauge to completely recharge. The more the player advances, the harder gameplay goes with more obstacles to avoid along the way. The player receives a "Game Over" if Crush runs out of hearts upon contact with many obstacles.

Along the way, the player will find special items which can either be helpful or harmful to the player. The red magnet attracts nearby stars which only lasts for a short while, causing the player to earn more points. The green magnet attracts nearby obstacles to hamper Crush, which makes avoiding all the obstacles more difficult and like the red magnet, it only lasts for a short while. Stars covered in bubbles also help Crush earn more points throughout the game.

On the bottom left side of the screen is a pause icon where the player can pause the game if they need to take a break from gameplay, especially when feeling overwhelmed with many incoming obstacles appearing onscreen.

The number of hearts Crush has depends on which difficulty the player has chosen when they play Crush's Coaster: The Game. If the player chooses Easy Mode, Crush is given three hearts and can last up to three hits while in Normal Mode, Crush is given two hearts and can last up to two hits throughout the game. The number of points earned during the end of the game depends on how many points the player has scored throughout gameplay.
