Larry[1] is a male wolf in Zootopia. He works as a security guard at Cliffside Asylum.
Physical Appearance[]
Larry is a tall, thickly-furred wolf. His coat is a stormy gray, mottled with white and beige, and his eyes are ice blue. He has tall, pointy ears and a large, dark nose. He sports a dark gray turtleneck shirt, on top of which he wears a black trench coat, along with navy blue pants.
Development[]
Until the end of production, Larry had not been properly named, being labeled simply as "Wolf Guard 2"[2].
After a number of questions via Twitter, director Byron Howard came up with the name "Larry", due to its closeness to "Gary", which writer Jared Bush approved.[3]
Role in the Film[]
"Gary, quit it! You're gonna start a howl!"
Larry is seen among the wolves guarding the entrance to the asylum. When Judy Hopps induces Gary to start howling, he rushes to stop him, attempting to prevent him and the other wolves from starting a "howl" and losing focus, but ultimately fails and starts howling along.
Trivia[]
- Larry is voiced by Rich Moore, who also voices Doug Ramses.
- Larry was given a name because the fan community started to ship him with Gary. In the Zootopia+ episode Dinner Rush, Larry and Gary are shown in the background having dinner together.
