Face-up (表側表示 omotegawa hyōji) is a position in which the card face is visible. A card that is face-up on the field or the top of the Deck or that is banished face-up may be freely examined by either player at any time. This is the opposite of face-down.
Continuous Effects only apply while the card is face-up on the field. Many cards must be face-up on the field to activate their effects.
