Minor Easter eggs and references[edit]
- Xenogears is mentioned in Final Fantasy VII.
- Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean has the chrono-element Magnus "Rare Action Figure" which depicts the KOS-MOS figure that came with the Japanese limited edition of Xenosaga Episode I. It can be obtained as a reward for adding the "Aquila" constellation to the "Star Map". There is also a boss fight against a monster from "another dimension" called a "Gnosis" that can be turned into a Magnus.
- The item description of the "Rare Action Figure" is as follows: "This limited edition action figure stars in a certain sci-fi game. What does the future hold for this combat android?"
- In Baten Kaitos Origins, the Coliseum enemy named Arma Prototype M uses an attack titled "X-Bluster". This is a reference to KOS-MOS's X-Buster in both name and design.[3]
- A reference to the Sophia portrait from Xenogears appears in So Blonde: Back to the Island.[4]
- In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, game cases for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and Xenoblade Chronicles X appear on the Nintendo 3DS shelf and Wii U game shelf furniture items, respectively.
- In The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, the character Valimar poses similarly to Grahf from Xenogears and says the line "Dost thou desire the power?"
- In Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, Xenoblade Chronicles X is referenced with a line mentioning both the Prone and Ganglion.
- A version of the Zohar appears in Agents of Mayhem hidden in the storeroom of Requisitions on the A.R.K.. It's appearance is a mix of the Xenogears and Xenosaga design.[5]
- The Monado appears in Nobody Saves the World on a wall together with other iconic video game swords such as the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII or the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda.[6]
- In Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, a character portrayed by Shulk's voice actor Adam Howden says his iconic line "I'm really feeling it!". This was confirmed to be a Xenoblade reference.[7]
- In the 2022 reboot of Saints Row, the Zohar appears in the Badlands South. Its appearance is based of a mix of all three Xeno sub-series.[8]
- A skin for the Heavy Blade weapon in Warframe references the Monado. The skin's name is "Heavy Blade Mithra", likely a reference to Mythra.[9]
- Terraria has a painting called Terra Blade Chronicles, referencing the name and title screen of Xenoblade Chronicles.
- Track 10 of Hi-Fi Rush features a reference to the slideshow format of Disc 2 of Xenogears.[10] Much like Xenogears, this scene was implemented due to time constraints.[11]
