The First Low Orbit Station, also known as Rhadamanthus, is an area in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It is on top of the World Tree and where Elysium resides. It is the final region of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The station also makes an appearance in Xenoblade Chronicles, albeit with a different design.
Story[edit]
History[edit]
In the year 20XX, the First Low Orbit Station came under attack by the Saviorite rebels. The Rhadamanthus Authority attempted to fight them off with their various Artifices. When that failed, the director of the station authorized the use of Aion but were locked out of the Conduit by professor Klaus who used the Conduit to conduct his experiment despite his colleague Galea's protest. As a result of the Conduit's activation, it caused people and things disappeared into various dimensions, as well as splitting Earth into the world of Bionis and the world of Alrest respectively. What remained of Klaus's original world remained on Alrest as the Land of Morytha.
Xenoblade Chronicles[edit]
The station, unnamed and unexplained, is seen after the final battle where Alvis shows Shulk how the world of Bionis and Mechonis came to be. Zanza, then called Klaus, is portrayed as a scientist who destroyed the universe as a result of an experiment he conducted out of simple curiosity. A woman who Shulk identifies as Meyneth tries to stop him, but fails. The universe is destroyed and the two Titans emerge in the new universe.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2[edit]
Its origin is explained in the Siren model kit manual. When Aoidos became a government facility dedicated to studying the Conduit, an immediate course of action was to build three space elevators to hold the Orbital Ring; Minos, Aeacus, and the largest of them, Rhadamanthus. Rhadamanthus is the one that housed the First Low Orbit Station.
The Trinity Processor was created here, created to maintain the Conduit. They would create the Artifices out of a necessity to protect Rhadamanthus.
After the party has dealt with Amalthus, they reached Rhadamanthus Portal, the top of the World Tree. However, when they finally reached Elysium, they find it a desolate wasteland. As they explored further, they are greeted by the Architect's voice who subjected the party to the phantasms of their unconscious feelings about the various party members. When the illusion ends, they come face-to-face with the Architect who reveals the origins of Alrest before being sent off to deal with Malos and Aion. After defeating them, the Architect and Conduit disappears, causing the World Tree to collapse on Alrest without its support. Pneuma stays behind to destroy the World Tree with the last of Aion's powers while the rest of the party escapes.
Future Redeemed[edit]
The First Low Orbit Station appeared in a flashback during Shulk and Rex's narration on the origin of the world. The base of the station later appears as a vision shown to the party by Alpha within Origin.
