The Bulborel is a species of mushroom appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It takes the form of a lime green, seed-shaped bulb, with an emerald green stem wrapping around the bulb like a spiral. It is very rare to find, with no known way of cultivating it. Rather. the only place it is found is on the back of an Emperor Bulblax, as the combination of rocky deposits on its back and organic flesh to take nutrients make for perfect conditions for the Bulborel to mature and grow. Outwardly, the Bulborel is a very hardy plant, staying firmly in place on the giant grub-dog's back no matter the beast's movements, but internally, it's very fragile, as its stem will rapidly decay and drop its bulb upon the Bulblax's death. As well, the bulb itself is easily destroyed, so caution must be taken to avoid wasting such a precious material.
The Bulborel's bulb has a noticeably soft but sweet flavor, but its spores make it toxic to consume for Leaflings. However, its spores also have an equally sweet scent, enticing any creature in the vicinity to try and eat the bulb. This has a few uses, such as an effective tool for diversion, but that is a waste compared to its most outstanding use, that being to pacify any creature that eats it. When an enemy consumes the bulb, it releases its sweet spores into the stomach of the creature, causing a sense of euphoria and bliss to enter the creature's mind. Not only does it leave the creature harmless, but the creature will start following the individual that fed it, allowing the captains in question to domesticate it instantly. Thus, the Bulborel is very sought after by those wanting to tame wild beasts for the resources they are good for as well as the assistance they can bring in exploration and combat.
Overall, the Bulborel is a very useful tool for surviving on PNF-404's surface, but its rarity begs the best use it can possibly have: befriending the planet's wildlife.

Bulborels appear in Pikmin: Scratched Puzzles, on the backs of Emperor Bulblax and Sovereign Bulblax corpses that have sunken into the ground. Bulborels can also be found growing in the background on Kingbacks. Bulborel can be pulled like nectar weed, but it doesn't do anything besides distract Pikmin.
