This book will probably be in my top 5 for this year even though it's only January. Silenced could possibly be Leddy's best work so far. Seriously, she is the BOMB! I have a huge book hangover. I can't stop thinking about this story of love, heartbreak, second chances and redemption.
Don't read the blurb. Just go for it, you won't be sorry. Yes, it has some dark scenes, and they were not easy to process, but this book is so freaking amazing! I kept flipping the pages like a mad man. I couldn't get enough of it. I literally devoured it. There is trauma, awful trauma no child should ever experience. First few chapters take us back to the time Killian and Rylee met. She was a normal 8 year old kid, and he was her first door neighbour. From the first page, you realize that he is different. Home schooled child who won't talk, likes to draw and has some pretty bad scaring on his face. But although he has visible scars on the outside, ones on the inside are much deeper. They become inseparable, and Rylee becomes only person he talks to. Over time, their relationship becomes so much more... and they fall in love. I don' want to reveal anything else, you just have to read it! At one point there was so many twist and turns, it kept me on the edge of my seat. It was just so many emotions packed in one book.

Steamy, suspenseful, romantic, witty, intense... damn, this one has it all! MC romance is my thing and boy this one was good! I can easily say that this will be my top MC romance this year. I deliberately did not read the first book in the series - Sinner's Creed, because I read that it didn't end in HEA... and that's just not my thing, so I read this as a standalone, even though it says that this is a continuation of the story. The writing is flawless so I easily connected all the dots. I was hooked right from the start. This is one of those books that grabs you and won't let go. Shady and Diem are two kick ass characters. Loved them both! I am not sure what was better... their love/hate relationship or their dialogue. At times really funny, and at times quite angsty. Match made in heaven...or hell. I am not sure, but you won't be disappointed. If you are a fan of MC romance, trust me, you don't want to miss out on this one...
UNIQUE AND HEARTBREAKING! How far would you go to save the ones you love?
Wow... this book sucked me in right from the start. God, it's been sitting on UNIQUE AND HEARTBREAKING! How far would you go to save the ones you love?
Wow... this book sucked me in right from the start. God, it's been sitting on my Kindle for three whole months! I have no idea why I haven't picked it up earlier. My mistake... If you like reading about murder, secrets, passion, undeniable chemistry and damaged heroes, then look no further! This book has it all!
It was not as dark as I initially thought it's gonna be, but let's just say it's dark-ish, full of twist and one hell of an emotional rollercoaster. One thing I really liked, and I have to mention is D.H. Sidebottom writing. Pure fact that some of the scenes that would normally be quite hard to process (rape/violence) were written with such good taste and not very descriptive. Sometimes such scenes should just be kept unwritten and left to the imagination of the reader, and that is exactly what this author did.
So, this is another 5 star read for me, and I can't wait to see what else D.H has in store! :) ...more

This goes straight to my favorites shelf... it was that good! I found this gem completely randomly. If you like darker, suspenseful reads, cocky hero and you don't have a problem with a bit of cheating in novels, trust me and pick up this book! This story brings love/hate relationships to a whole new level. Although hero was a complete asshole at times, there was something about him... God! I really don't want to reveal too much, so all I can say is that I highly recommend it! :) ...more

Jane Harvey-Berrick is an amazing writer. She really took me by surprise here. Ever since I read The Education of Sebastian I was hooked. It pulled me in and swallowed me whole. This story will grip you and won't let go until the very last page. It was a heartbreaking, emotional, poignant and unique journey.
Main characters are a disabled girl Laney (she suffers from quite severe case of rheumatoid arthritis) and a struggling dancer called Ash (Aljaž) Novak. Book is written in both Ash and Laney’s POVs. After leaving his home country, Slovenia, Ash finds himself entering the brutal and dark world of the Russian Bratva. Book is partly set in Las Vegas and I have to say that first few chapters were really hard to read. I wasn't sure if I was reading a romance novel or a very good thriller. But make no mistake... not by any means is this a dark romance.
Ash meets Laney in a club in Vegas, where he came to work as a dancer. One thing led to another and she became his silver lining, his way out of the world he found himself in... I don't won't to reveal too much because you have to fully experience it for yourself, so let me just say that this was so much more than two broken souls healing each other.
Let me just get back to the fact that Ash is Slovenian. If you don't know, Slovenia is a small country in southern Central Europe bordering Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Hungary to the northeast and Croatia to the south and southeast. Since I live in Croatia and quite close to Slovenian border for that matter (and up until 91' we were all living in one country - Yugoslavia) I do understand their language and I spent a fair amount of time there. You can see that the author did her research regarding Slovenian names, facts etc. I am sure that research is time-consuming and hard work; however, I did find some facts to be untrue. For example, in one part of the book Ash is explaining to Laney the meaning of his tattoo saying that it is Serbo-Croatian, written in cyrillic letter. There is no Serbo-Croatian language. It can be either Serbian or Croatian. Also, Croatian is not written in cyrillic letter, but Serbian is. Ok, maybe I'm nitpicking way too much here, but I had to address this basic fact to you.
However, knowing this was written by Jane Harvey-Berrick, who has written a few of my favorite books, I have to give this book a 5 star rating.
I highly recommend it!
Don't waste your time and put this on your TBR list!

I went completely blind into it, and all I can say is that this is really good. If you're into dark, a bit twisted reads, make sure you give it a go. BE WARNED: this one ends in cliffhanger. I will be reading a second installment straight away, and I can't wait to see how this story will progress....more

OMG! This was intense. I am suffering from a serious book hangover. This story gripped me from the start. I literally devoured it! I've read my fair share of dark reads in the past but this one was just... unique. WOW! This was exactly what I needed. In the past few months, I've read too many hearts and flowers romance novels, and this was an escape from my "usual" genre.
The Sect was my first read from Courtney Lane, and boy, lady is a freakin' genius! I need to read more of her books. How to describe this book? It is most definitely an erotic thriller, but it's also so much more. Twisted, demented, f***ed up, I could go on and on... Not every dark read that deals with similar topics (kidnapping, sexual slavery, violence) can be so ruthless, captivating and brutal. If you think you can handle that, then go for it!
I don't want to give anything away so I will just patiently wait for a sequel (there is no cliffhanger at the end of this one though) and say that I highly recommend it!

Ladies and gentleman, Ignazio Vitale is back, and he is dangerously delicious and as awesome as ever! My God, I have a serious book 5 stars***** EPIC!
Ladies and gentleman, Ignazio Vitale is back, and he is dangerously delicious and as awesome as ever! My God, I have a serious book hangover. I will never grow tired of reading about Ignazio and Karissa, so J.M. Darhower, I kinda hope this won't be the last book in the series. I guess I could say that criminals make the best book boyfriends, at least in this case :) Ignazio can put all mafia romance heroes to shame. Monster in His Eyes is one of my favourite mafia/mob/organised crime series. Most of all, I enjoyed the dialogs between Ignazio and Karissa. Their interactions are at moments so emotional, but at the same time sexy, funny and raw. It is something completely different and you just have to read it to experience it. I love J.M Darhower writing, and apart from great character development, and believable dialogue, situations she creates will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. If you like Italian Mob Romance genre with protective alpha male, don't miss out on this series. ...more

Love isn't always bright and shiny. Yeah, you bet.
What the hell did I just read? This is twisted, disturbing, dark and bloody. Completely unpredictable. I was turning pages like a mad woman. I devoured it.
I love Stylo Fantome's writing. Her Kane trilogy is one of my favorite "darker" reads. But this one... wow, it blew my mind! Dark romance genre is nothing new to me. I enjoy it quite often. I've read dozens of books with similar storyline, but this one tops it all. At first glance, main characters Constantine Masters and Dulcie Travers have nothing in common. They come from different backgrounds. She is a trailer trash kid from wrong side of the town, and he is a golden boy, quarterback of the football team and mayor's son. He has a bright future and she is stuck in their small hometown. Absolutely nothing similar, right? Or not? Well, it turns out they are both quite special. And I mean special in a very twisted and sick way. They hide behind their beautiful faces, and very few people know them well. They are two broken, dark souls bound together, and they actually work better when they are together, then when they are separated. Like two peas in a pod. They are raw and passionate at the same time. Just to be clear, I am not glorifying their twisted relationship. I wouldn't call it a normal one, but it really is special. There are so many twists and turns throughout the book and I had no idea how it will end. I’m looking forward to read more from this author.
After reading this, I will probably need my daily dose of cheesy romance :) ...more
