Issue 17 is the only issue of Image Comics' Solid Blood. It was released on December 16, 2020.
The concept of Solid Blood itself is a comic series from an alternate universe where The Walking Dead never made it past year one.[1][2]
Synopsis[]
They are among us! They look like us! They act like us! But they are not us! In ages past they were worshipped. In others, they were feared. In others still... hunted. A gift passed down through the ages, they are descendants of the strongest to ever live! In their veins, it rages-- Solid Blood.
Plot[]
Shawna Hawthorne is in a bunker talking to Kevin, telling him how simpler things were before she got her powers, which is knowing when everyone is going to die. He asks her if his death is a long time from now, when she gives him only silence, he panics. She asks him how long do they have to stay in the bunker, when suddenly she starts bleeding from her nose.
Topside, Michonne has just been killed by Necromonger, who proceeds to taunt Bladesmith over it. He grabs her by her head and starts to crush it, but before he can, she calls upon her sword Soul Cleaver which cuts through the heads of several zombies and through the chest of Necromonger, who she proceeds to cut in half. She then takes on his horde of zombies, just as he begins to recover.
Meanwhile, Ravager and an injured Collider are floating through debris in space. Ravager floats to Collider to try to heal her, when that doesn't work, he stabs her, awaking her at full health, but at the cost of blacking out.
In a sewer, a pitch black malnourished looking woman starts to hack up a pink alien. She then lays on the floor saying "save me, father. Save us all."
Back in the bunker, a Bloodwraith has emerged from Shawna. Scared to death, she calls Kevin for help, but he freezes, not knowing what to do. To the surprise of them both, the Bloodwraith doesn't attack them, the first to not do so. Shawna then realizes she can control the Bloodwraith.
Back on the battlefield, Bladesmith has killed every last one of Necromonger's zombie horde, but he has now fully healed and starts to attack Bladesmith, but they are both knocked back when Shawna's Bloodwraith emerges from the bunker. The Bloodwraith then goes to attack Necromonger.
Collider and the now healed Ravager kill soldiers at a space station while having some friendly banter with each other. After they clear the area, Collider gets reading coming from behind a door, a new being gifted with Solid Blood. Ravager breaks the door down only to find Kevin chained up. Kevin then reveals that the Kevin left in charge of Shawna isn't the real one. As Shawna asks if she's really controlling her bloodwraith, the fake Kevin's eyes glow red.

- There are plans to at least get to issue #25, which would be close to the end.
- It's known that Issue #16 was an extended issue.
- The end of the issue shows both the cover and a panel for Issue #18.
- It's confirmed that Thrasher died in Issue #9.
- As Robert Kirkman explains in the Mail Flood, Michonne was featured in this series as it was his intention to have her in a series known as Dead Planet, but after it didn't get picked up. He then intended to introduce her around Issue #15 of The Walking Dead, but in this universe, The Walking Dead ended after only it's first year, so Michonne was made into a character in this series.
- The premise of the comic is very similar to Rick Grimes 2000, as it features both aliens and zombies.
- The zombies in this series appear to have pink blood.
