~ DOOM (2016) |
Summary
DOOM centers around the adventures of an unnamed marine (generally referred to as "Doomguy") who roams the planet Mars, killing demons as he goes. The story, while serviceable, is reasonably kept to a minimum. (although it has seen a massive overhaul in newer installments within the franchise) Doomguy's motives often vary from game to game; for instance, his initial arrival on the demon-infested Mars was his punishment for disobeying a superior officer, while later on, his attempts to fight the forces of Hell stem from the death of his pet rabbit...
Power of the Verse
DOOM's verse didn't seem to have many feats at first, but recently grew much stronger with the later games. Individual abilities and readily accessible technology are both notable. The most powerful items peak at Multi-City Block level due to scaling from the BFG-9000 and the 2 Megakelvin laser. The most powerful, and most destructive weapon, being the BFG-10000, which caps at a solid Multi-Continent level. At best, the Doom Slayer reaches Complex Multiverse level when scaled to Davoth.
Doomguy himself has two versions; the original Doomguy incarnations from DOOM, DOOM II and DOOM 64, and the Doom Slayer incarnation from the 2016 game. The latter version is notable due to both the Glory Kills and the in-game lore placing his physical stats above every other entity in the franchise, with the only possible exceptions to this being The Seraphim (who is said to have been the one responsible for giving the Doom Slayer his powers) and The Titan. (which the Doom Slayer is stated to have fought and killed centuries before the events of the 2016 game). This has changed with DOOM: Eternal, as it introduced foes much stronger with the Doom Slayer growing much stronger and surpassing even the likes of Davoth, The Father, or Samur Makyr.
In terms of Attack Potency and prior to Ancient Gods Expansion, the strongest characters reached Small City level. However, in terms of hax, The most powerful character in the original release of Doom Eternal, The Icon of Sin, is High Universe level, likely Universe level+ with Black Hole Creation, and is able to destroy the universe, grow stronger, and warp reality, just by remaining on Earth.
The standard Demons in the series vary in power between games, being around Small Building level and Building level with the Classic games and Modern Games being directly related, allowing for the Modern series to scale higher than their classic selves.
Doom 3 scales entirely to it's own feats, as the game is treated very differently to the rest of the series, and takes place in an alternate reality.
In regards to speed, all versions of the Doomguy can effortlessly outrun rockets, which generally hang around 660 MPH, and many of the demons also scale to this due to being capable of keeping up with the main characters. The protagonists also possess Supersonic combat speed and reactions via reacting to plasma projectiles and easily dodging machine-generated electricity. Doom Slayer would obtain Infinite speed by being able to traverse 9 layers of hell, and would eventually peak at Immeasurable by keeping up with Mayrks, whose wings allows them to move at that speed.
