Kon-ni-chiwa. Konnichiwa.
~ Duo's only dialogue before attacking Michael. (Translates to "Good-bye. Goodbye.")

Duo is the main antagonist of the MeatCanyon video, The Tongue Stealer.

Alike his original counterpart, he is the mascot and teacher of Duolingo, and punishes those who miss out on their language lessons. However he here is depicted as a monster who breaks into two smokers' apartment complex and forcefully removes their tongues in retaliation.

Appearance[]

Duo shares most of his appearance to his original counterpart, being a green, stubby owl. However, he instead has large black bulb eyes, a more fierce appearance on his mask around the eyes, and salmon feet that are connected to his body.

When in his transformation, Duo's inners are shown, and he becomes much taller, having a monstrous mouth below his beak.

Personality[]

Similar to his original counterpart, Duo is a disciplinarian who punishes those who fail to do their lessons on Duolingo. Although in this video, Duo is a far more villainous figure, as while the original Duo simply kidnapped and stalked those who missed their lessons, here Duo instead outright physically mutilates the two smokers by replacing their tongues so that they can only speak the language they chose to learn. (in this case, Japanese)

Biography[]

In an apartment complex, when a smoker named Michael, alongside his unnamed friend are waiting for a pizza to arrive, they discuss about using Duolingo to learn and speak Japanese so that they can hook up girls in Japan when they go there in a few months. Suddenly, Michael realizes he missed another day on Duolingo, leaving Duo to suddenly show up at his windowsill. Michael starts to approach Duo, while his friend warns him not to. Michael then blows smoke onto Duo's face, before the latter pronounces "Konnichiwa" and opens a mouth below his beak.

Duo pounces onto Michael, brutally rips out his tongue, and releases a parasite to replace it so that he can only speak Japanese. His friend is horrified, and attempts to rush to the phone, before Duo drags him to him. While Michael accidentally ticks off the pizza delivery guy after begging him for help in Japanese, his friend gets his tongue replaced too by Duo. Duo leaves as the two horrified men can now only speak in Japanese, while the course becomes complete on Duolingo.
