Larry Kline is a major antagonist in Season 3 of Stranger Things. He was the mayor of Hawkins, Indiana who oversaw the construction of Starcourt Mall which served as a front for a secret Soviet Union-United States operation.
He was portrayed by Cary Elwes, who also played Donald Curtis in the English dub of Porco Rosso, William Boone in Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, Dr. Jonas Miller in Twister, Casanova in Kiss the Girls, Paxton Powers in Batman Beyond, Sir Edgar in Ella Enchanted, Ted Bundy in The Riverman, Lawrence Gordon in the Saw franchise, Aquaman in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Denlinger in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning and Pistol Pete Whipple in Knuckles.

Larry Kline is a forty-to-fifty-year-old man with fair skin, blue eyes, and brown hair with white tones. Kline is mostly seen wearing baby blue dress shirts with a dark blue tie and gray dress pants with black shoes. He sometimes wears a dark dress coat with his outfit whether he's out in public or working in his office.
Role in the series[]
In "Mall Rats", Larry Kline was in his office as an angry mob stood outside city hall in protest to Starcourt Mall causing several businesses to close down. He meets Police Chief Jim Hopper whom he easily forces him to apprehend the protestors, despite the chief's reluctance.
Trivia[]
- Larry Kline is a parody of Larry Vaughn from Jaws. Both characters are mayors named Larry and are dismissive of the concerns of their towns' citizens.
- A running gag is Kline getting beat up and injured after his debut in the third season of the show, which is satisfying since he one of the meanest jerks on the show, and it already has an awful lot of them.
- It is unknown if Kline was the Mayor of Hawkins around the time of Will Byers's disappearance nor who became mayor after his arrest.
