Royal Government arc[]
When Eren Yeager and Historia Reiss were captured by the Anti-Personal Control Squad led by Kenny Ackerman, the Survey Corps’ Special Operations squad led by Levi Ackerman decided to go to the First Interior Headquarters. The Commander can be see writing in his tent when suddenly, the Survey Corps come storming into their outpost (which was a huge building that looked more like a mansion in the manga). They incapacitate all the soldiers there, with Levi forcefully bringing the Commander with them. Levi throws the man against a tree and tries to extract information from him about the whereabouts of Eren and Historia. Instead of giving an answer, he tries to shame them by telling them that they had injured harmless people, some of whom were probably not even soldiers, but servants of the place, (replaced with recruits in the anime). Levi, irritated at hearing it, crushed the Commander’s jaw with his foot against the trunk of the tree, which broke several of his teeth. He again tried to resist by advising them to go to the Royal Government and confess their crimes if they wanted to avoid the rest of their comrades being executed. Totally indifferent, Levi breaks his arm for all his talking instead of answering his questions. The officer then breaks down, saying that he knows absolutely nothing about where Eren and Historia might be and blurts out Kenny's last name, Ackerman. Levi having known Kenny intends to continue torturing the Commander to get him to spill some more information on the matter, with the unfortunate Commander asking in tears if he was dealing with a bound madman. Suddenly a noise is heard, the man thinking that it was reinforcement brigades having surrounded them regained his confidence, jubilant at the tragic future to which his torturers were promised.
However, the people approaching them were, Hange Zoe, Marlowe Freudenberg, and Hitch Dreyse, (the last two were changed to Moblit Berner in the anime). Hange informs them all of the Coup d'Etat against the Royal Government which had taken place beforehand, causing everyone to be overjoyed, except for the Commander who is incredibly shocked and distraught by the news.
The Commander would be put in prison together with all the Interior Police soldiers, together with the remaining remnants of the Royal Government.
It can be assumed that the Commander remained in prison for the rest of his life.
