His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
- Throughout the series he is shown to have a perverted attraction to Chris Griffin who is an underaged boy and has made some attempts to seduce him such as:
- In ''To Love and Die in Dixie,'' he tries to get Chris in his house presumably to rape him by offering him popsickles.
- In ''The Perfect Castaway,'' he buys an ice cream truck from Brian, and presumably uses it to lure young boys.
- In ''The Courtship of Stewie's Father,'' he has a creepy fantasy of being Chris' wife.
- In "Valentines Day in Quahog," he uses his grandniece Sandy's crush on Chris to date him through her.
- When he is asked to babysit Chris, Meg, and Stewie in "Play It Again. Brian," he made several attempts to seduce Chris such as:
- Trying to get him bathe with him.
- After reading to Chris Peter and the Wolf, he changes the moral to fit his own ends.
- When Chris asked him if he was a pedophile, he presumably lied to him, although the answer wasn't shown.
- In "Grimm Job," he lurked in the shadows of Chris' room.
- In "And Then There Were Fewer," while everyone was freaking out that the phone line was dead, Herbert attempted to diffuse the tension, but then made a lewd comment to Chris, ordering him to keep his pants off. As he explained his motive of wanting James Woods dead for replacing his Cialis with meth, he used his high speed to chase after two little boys. During the search of the falsely accused Muriel Goldman who vanished amid a power outage, Herbert revealed a shocking secret to Chris. He told Chris that in the event of his death, Chris should burn his house down to prevent the discovery of illicit materials, indicating Herbert has child p**n stashed in his house.
- In "An App A Day," Herbert’s actions reveal his hypocrisy when Chris is labeled a sex offender. Despite being a dangerous sexual predator himself, Herbert and some young boys hide in a cellar.
- In "North by North Quahog," he disguised himself as an 8th grader to get two boys to dance with him.
- In "Finders Keepers," he is revealed to be a necrophile. During the treasure hunt at Block Island, which involved digging up a young boy’s grave, he made a disturbing comment, stating he “digs kids”.
- In "The Tan Aquatic with Steve Zissou," he attempts to lure Kyle, who was 13 at the time, into his house. In the same episode, he attempts to drug Chris, Kyle, and his boys with Tylenol.
- Despite the black comedy humor of the show, his pedophilia is not downplayed in any way, shape, or form.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- He fails the Heinous Standards to people who did worse like Peter and especially Quagmire, who commit multiple horrific sexual crimes and other acts with similar resources with much more detail.
- As expected for the show, he is played for laughs quite frequently with his over-the-top pedophilic nature and silly voice not helping.
- He has been portrayed as genuinely caring for Chris rather than simply lusting for him, though he did once take Chris hostage when Quahog temporarily fell victim to the law of the jungle.
- He does have some genuinely heroic moments with no pragmatic reason such as:
- Dressing himself as a firefighter and saving Chris from a fire although he ended up taking him to his house instead of giving him to his family.
- Fighting against a Nazi called Franz Gutentag who held Peter and Chris hostage.
- Fighting a giant tree to save Chris.
- He cares for his grand-niece, Sandy, and enjoyed spending time with her when not using her to get close to Chris.
- He cares for his dog, Jesse.
- He is a very honorable fighter, as when Franz Gutentag fell asleep during their fight, Herbert woke him up instead of attacking him or rescuing Chris and Peter while he was asleep, and when Franz got stuck on the couch, Herbert called his nurse and waited for him to get up before continuing to fight him. At the end, he tried to save Franz from falling to his death.
