The Hasbro Miniature Figurines was a range of figurines produced by Hasbro, mostly for blind bags. This series is known by the alternative name of Small Troll Town, though this is sometimes given as the name of the bigger Small range.

These dolls were the main "Miniature" doll series that Harbo produced as a Blind Bag series. The intention was to provide a cheaper doll line compared to the larger ranges. The range allowed for a large number of Trolls to be represented, including many never featured in any main Trolls media. It was rare for Hasbro to label these Trolls by name; even dolls of main characters like Poppy and Branch were usually left unnamed.

They began production alongside the first anouncements of Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, and were based originally on the 2016 movie. They expanded across all media until Trolls World Tour,[1] when they were replaced by the Tiny Dancers series.

About
[]

These toys stand about 2.5-3 inches in height. They stand at half the actual of the Trolls themselves (in the franchise, the Trolls are 6 inches tall). The series was produced as an affordable toyline, with blind bags usually being priced at $4-$6 and multiple sets cutting off prices at $16 or approximate.

The main issue with these particular sized toys is that the names of the Trolls are rarely marked. They have little detail other then their face and many of the females only have a symbol printed on them to identify who they are. For example, Poppy has a flower on her dress. Compared to Small Figurines, most of these toys are just color swaps. This allows for a larger number of different named Trolls to appear, and the range has several times the amount of characters the small range haf at the time, including numerous characters never released in other toylines by Hasbro. Releases included promotional "toy only" characters like Arabesque or Wim, as well as Trolls that appeared only in the Trolls: Crazy Party Forest! app. However, due to their lack of detail, it doesn't provide many design variations between the Trolls; even Trolls like Poppy can be hard to identify in some sets, as she can just be designed as a pink Troll with a flower printed on her dress. In addition, promotional lines aren't distinct due to Hasbro switching them over time, making it harder to determine where one line ends and another begins.

As of Trolls World Tour, there appears to be no new additions to this range, with the Tiny Dancers toys appearing to have replaced it.

Care & Handling[]

A few notes:

  • These can be of very low quality, depending on when the toy was made.
  • Hair loss is common, so care is needed with play.
  • Any doll that represents a Glitter Troll, such as Guy Diamond and Arabesque, may lose its glitter over time, as it's just pasted onto the doll.
  • These are usually solid figurines with no moving parts except the head with many figurines lacking any joints at all.

Note that to get the Trolls' hair stick up as seen in the stock images by Hasbro, use of fabric soften and/or hair spray, wax or gel would be needed. Always research before applying chemicals to any toy's hair.

Blind Bags
[]

The "Small Troll Town" main stable series was released in a blind bag format. These figurines were produced as random collectable figurines in blind bags. In older blind bags, the figurine inside was marked on its package, allowing collectors to avoid duplicates. In later series the figurine inside was left unknown. A number of these figurines were often of unnamed Trolls, and those of named Trolls could be difficult to identify due to the limited details. While females could be identified by the symbol on their dress, male Trolls couldn't be identified so easily.

Each series commonly had a Poppy and a Branch figurine, but other Trolls would change. Most of the series had at least one Fuzzling Troll in each set, if not two.

The characters of Wim, Rudy and Dr. Plum Plimsy were only released as toys within this series. A number of the early series blind bags also have toys referencing characters from the Trolls: Crazy Party Forest! game; it's the only time that these Trolls were referenced elsewhere in the franchise.

Series 6 was part of the Trolls Holiday special's promotion. Some later series included toys of critters and baby Trolls (the latter of which appeared from Series 7 onwards) meant to be compatible with the bigger small range. These included 2 baby Trolls, 2 generic child Trolls and Keith. Unlike the two baby figurines that actually appear in the series, the ones in the miniature range can turn their heads. Series 10 had "Throwback" or "Classical" Trolls based on the 1990s Troll Dolls; this was part of the 60th anniversary celebration of the Trolls brand. Later series tended to be based around Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, and were part of the Netflix promo focus that took place throughout 2017 and 2018.

A total of 12 waves were released between 2016 and 2019. The first wave was released alongside the Trolls movie, and was among the first Troll doll releases since Trollz in 2005.

Hair Huggers
[]

These had special hair that could "hug" things. It was meant to imitate the Trolls' abilities from Trolls to grasp onto things with their hair. They could therefore act as a hairband, a bracelet or just a decoration for items such as bags. Because of the length of their hair, they were much taller than other related toys.

Netflix Hair Huggers[]

Some of the special sets have items that are compatible with the Small range sets, such as critters.

Surprise Pod Pals
[]

Each pod contained a Troll, a critter and a sticker set, except for the Cloud Guy set, which substituted a Troll for Cloud Guy. These pods could be reused as a playset piece.[10]

Sets include:

  • Chenille and Cuddle Pup
  • Cloud Guy and Puffalo
  • Bridget and Mr. Dinkles
  • Poppy and Cuddle Pup
  • Satin and Puffalo
  • Branch and Mr. Dinkles

Critters in all sets are compatible with the larger Small range sets and was part of the Netflix series promotions.
