Synopsis[]
After his people were wiped out by the Orcs, Hiiro was sure he was the last of the Ogres. Since then, he's found a home in the small nation of Raja in service to their young queen. However, things are not going well for the city-state. A mysterious curse has repeatedly fouled their water source and their queen's health is clearly declining. But when Hiiro heads off in search of aid, he runs across the Orcs responsible for the deaths of all those he held dear in the nearby country of Tempest.
Plot[]
The Origin of Hiiro[]
A mercenary band of Ogres attempted to make their escape at night but were ambushed by a band of Majin lead by Yamza. The Ogre mercenaries were originally from the Ogre village in the Great Jura Forest and having heard that they were going to attacked by an Orc Army, wished to head back and reinforce them, but were denied, and thus forced to escape Clayman's forces, who they were currently employed to. A handful of Ogres barely managed to survive, including the Ogre leader, and were found and treated by agents of the Kingdom of Raja. However, the only one who could be saved was their leader, as Queen Towa used the power of her tiara and the souls of his half-dead comrades to bestow him the name "Hiiro", to allow him to evolve.
Hiiro awakens 10 days later and learnt about what happened to him and his comrades. However, once he heard that he was unconscious for 10 days, he immediately ran out despite his injuries, stole one of the country's wyverns and flew it to his hometown, only to find it in ruins. Believing there to be no survivors, he breaks down, and after recovering, he returns to Raja four days later and began serving Towa.
A Messenger Arrives in Tempest[]
A few years later, Rimuru Tempest is now a Demon Lord and ruling the Jura-Tempest Federation. Hiiro was sent to Tempest as a messenger, when he spotted the Orcs working on the highway. Consumed by rage, he attacks them, facing Geld Junior in battle. Though they were on even footing, when Geld learnt his opponent was a survivor of the Ogre village that the Orc Army destroyed, he gave up the battle and was about to allow Hiiro to strike him down, only to be interrupted by Souka and later Benimaru, the latter's presence stopping the battle for good. After the two former Ogres, who turn out to be childhood friends, reintroduce themselves with their new names, and Benimaru explains the Orcs are citizens of Tempest, Hiiro soon reunites with the other Ogre survivors, as well as meeting Rimuru himself.
At dinner, the former Ogres reminisce their past, before Hiiro reveals his current allegiance to Raja, and the situation the country and their queen is facing, begining a flashback. As it turns out, the small Kingdom of Raja, which resides at the edge of the Great Jura Forest, is on the verge of bankruptcy with their only source of wealth, their gold mine, being tapped out. Furthermore, toxins from the mines keep leaking into the lake, poisoning the waters and the land around it. This forced their queen to use the tiara to purify the lake, but as a result, was continuously afflicted by the tiara's Cursed Poison as a side effect. Seeking alternatives, Hiiro proposed cultivating the forest, though the elders were opposed as they did not want to incur Veldora's wrath. However, they soon heard the results of Tempest's war against the Kingdom of Falmuth, so Hiiro volunteered to be a messenger to negotiate with Rimuru to cultivate some of the forest. The elders agreed as they were aware that Rimuru's nation accepts all types of monsters. Returning to the present, Rimuru also reveals that he has become a Demon Lord. Hiiro then made his heartfelt request, as did his oni brethren, to help Queen Towa and her kingdom, though this was unnecessary as both Rimuru and Veldora easily agreed. Milim Nava then made her appearance, upset that she didn't get invited to the meeting, before Rimuru calmed her down. Rimiru then offered to visit Towa to wish her well, which Hiiro enthusiastically agreed to.
Visiting the Kingdom of Raja[]
The following day, Rimuru accompanied Hiiro to Raja, taking Ranga, Benimaru, Shion and Shuna as escorts. Just as they entered the Kingdom, a mishap happened with the wyvern Shion was riding on (as it was knocked unconscious after inhaling the miasma emitted from Shion's cookies) causing it to plummet, leading to Ranga and Rimuru saving them, though they ended up wet after passing through a waterfall coming out from one of the mines. They then met with the kingdom's prime minister, Mobuji, and after Rimuru briefly showed his true form, revealed the good news of a successful negotiation. When they started discussing details on how to cultivate the land, Ramiris barged in with Treyni and Beretta, with the elders being initially rude to Ramiris until learning that she was also a Demon Lord. Rimuru then decided to leave the details to Treyni, and wished to be granted an audience with the queen. Having met her and using Raphael to analyze her, he realized that though the Cursed Poison is uncurable by anyone other than the caster, her condition would naturally improve if she stopped using the tiara, rested and ingested some Honey. After Rimuru gave his prognosis and had her eat some honey, the queen recovered a bit but lamented that she couldn't afford to stop using the item as long as the lake kept getting poisoned by the mine's toxins. However, Rimuru offered to fix that problem as well.
Relocating to the lake, Rimuru revealed that the poison did not originate from the mines, having analyzed the water from the waterfall when arriving in Raja earlier. Knowing that the poison had another source, Rimuru split the lake and walked through it to discover an old magic circle that was responsible for the poison. He then used Beelzebuth to consume not only the magic circle but all the water in the entire lake, purified it, and then spat the water back out, thus singlehandedly solving the Kingdom of Raja's problems. Later that night, while the kingdom celebrated with a festival Rimuru met with Towa in private, where she confided in Rimuru. She told him how she was envious of Rimuru for how open he was with his comrades, and the guilt she felt for Hiiro for tying him to her by saving his life and giving him a name, as she did it in hopes of gaining a confidante. Describing herself as calculating and selfish, Rimuru cheers her up that such a thing applies to everyone and that it's not a bad thing. He advised Towa that she was too serious and that she should lighten up and be more honest or else she would be crushed by her responsibilities.
A Conspiracy Unfolds[]
Sometime later, the travelling merchant Lacua, revealed to be the mastermind behind the ordeal, is shocked and in despair to see that not only is the lake purified, but the Raja citizens were cultivating the Great Jura Forest and Queen Towa has recovered. After some light digging, he discovered that all the problems plaguing Raja had been resolved by Rimuru, causing him to throw a small tantrum in his carriage, which unearthed an ominous black marble, which gave him an idea to resolve his problems.
In the Jura Forest, Hiiro visited the Ogre graveyard located next to the destroyed Ogre village, now containing the bodies of his fallen comrades, where he paid his respects, together with Benimaru. Hiiro vowed to himself to get stronger in order to protect everything important to him, though Benimaru reminded him that he was no longer alone, and that he and Tempest were willing to help him whenever he needed it. However, just then, a messenger arrived to deliver sudden and bad news, the lake had somehow become poisoned again, forcing Towa to use her power once more and promptly collapse afterwards. Furthermore, Raja was suddenly being targeted for invasion by a neighboring country. At around the same time in Rimuru City, Rimuru learnt the news himself from Treyni, and sent Souei and his Kurayami squad to investigate the other nation to find out the reason for the sudden attempted takeover. When Shion inquired why Rimuru was not rushing to Raja to support their allies, the Demon Lord is shown to be concerned about the unfortunate string of "coincidences" plaguing Raja, suspecting a conspiracy and that the queen's doctor, Chikuan might be involved. When Rimuru mentioned the magic circle found on the lakebed, Diablo, who had stopped by to report on his ongoing mission in the Kingdom of Falmuth, offered to investigate, having an inkling on who was involved, which his master approved. They then held a quick war council, with Rimuru assigning Veldora to guard Tempest while they were away, before leaving for Raja. That evening, Rimuru teleported his troops and himself to Raja.
Meanwhile, in the Raja Kingdom, the ministers are shown to concerned for their queen, with Chikuan confirming that for her to run away in her current condition would be detrimental. As Hiiro attended the queen, she started apologizing for being unable to save his comrades, and told him to leave, granting him freedom, though the Kijin fervently refused. Later, Lacua privately approached Hiiro with an apparent solution to Towa's condition. He claimed that though he couldn't save Towa's body, that he knew of a ritual in which one's soul could be transferred to another, as long as their soul had some kind of connection, which Hiiro apparently fulfilled, having been named by Towa. A desperate Hiiro agreed to the plan and was convinced to swallow the black marble, before carrying his unconscious queen to an underground altar.
Just as Rimuru arrived in Raja alongside Benimaru, Shuna and Ranga, the ministers revealed that both Queen Towa and Hiiro were missing. Rimuru then had Ranga track them by their scent, and as they followed the Tempest star wolf's lead, Souei contacted his master to reveal that the reason the antagonistic nation was suddenly invading was because they had suddenly learned that Raja had unearthed some gold, though the ministers vehemently denied this. Rimuru then told the ministers to prepare their army and to evacuate their citizens, assuring them that once the fighting starts his comrades would help, prompting the ministers to go and do as their ally suggested. They then continued to follow Ranga to the underground altar, where the situation had turned for the worst.
The Corrupted Kijin[]
A bit before Rimuru arrived at the altar, Towa awakened and seeing her confusion at being in an unfamiliar place, Hiiro and Lacua explained the soul transfer ritual. Upon hearing this Towa attempted to stop it, insisting that his life was no longer his and that he should live on, and though Hiiro was grateful for what she said, he insisted on going through with the ritual. After exchanging these heartfelt words, Hiiro asked Lacua to start the ritual only to find the merchant a distance away and mockingly clapping his hands at them. Having dropped all pretenses, he started congratulating himself out loud for his recovery after Rimuru's meddling, and when Hiiro demanded to know about the ritual, he jeeringly claimed something so convenient does not exist. When Hiiro attempted to attack him in rage, Lacua activated the Cursed Orb the Kijin consumed earlier causing him to undergo a terrifying transformation. Though Hiiro attempted to resist the influence of the item, Lacua made Hiiro remember how he failed to save both his companions and his village, and how Towa's current situation was thanks to him, which enraged Hiiro, allowing a complete transformation into a Mad Ogre. As Hiiro rampaged around, Lacua approached the weakened Towa and started baiting her to use the tiara, claiming it was the only way to save him. Just as she was about to do just that, Hiiro's tantrum ended up destroying the floor, interrupting the spell and causing all three of them to plummet to the abandoned mines below.
Fortunately, at this time, Rimuru's party appeared and saved Towa, catching her and safely landing on the lower floor. As Shuna protected Towa with her barrier, Benimaru held back Hiiro. Rimuru, having identified Lacua as the mastermind, pursued the merchant, who fled upon a mining cart, through the mine, riding on Ranga's back. As the chase ensued, Rimuru received a message from Souei, who informed Rimuru that the neighboring country's soldiers had begun marching into Raja via four different routes. Rimuru ordered his forces, who were already in position, to drive back the enemy with as few casualties as possible, but if push comes to shove to prioritize their own lives. Rimuru and Ranga then continued their pursuit of Lacua, with the chase seemingly coming to an end when he rode the mine cart into a lava pit. However, Lacua revealed himself to be a Daemon when he escaped demise by unfurling his wings and flying away with Rimuru and Ranga pursuing him into the skies above Raja.
Meanwhile, Diablo, having figured out the source of the magic circle poisoning the lake, visited fellow Primordial Daemon Violet who was none to please by his sudden visit or that he was named. Diablo then accused her of making the magic circle, which confused her, before requesting she kept her business out of Raja, which she outright refused, claiming that their royal family were some of her "favorites". She then talked about their past, how a few centuries ago she visited Raja on a whim, having sensed some delicious emotions, where she met the queen who mistook the Daemon for a goddess. Raja at the time was on the brink of destruction and the queen wished for the power to save her country, with Violet willing to oblige for a price. The Daemon offered the queen the Ugly Tiara and informed her of the gold vein lying underneath, before proposing a game, the conditions being that every usage of the tiara will further a curse on her and said curse will extend to her descendants. If the curse completely consumes the queen or one of her descendants, then Violet will take their body as a vessel to manifest in that world and it would be her victory, and if not, the victory goes to the queen's line. While Diablo is mostly indifferent to Violet's machinations, he still accused her of having a subordinate tamper the game in her favor before demanding the Primordial to leave Raja alone. Both the accusation and the demand irked Violet causing the two Daemons to start a fight in an alternate space, one which quickly found Violet on the backfoot. However, the battle was interrupted by her two subordinates who had investigated Diablo's claim as they fought and found it to be true. Annoyed that Lacua had intervened in her game and voided their contract, Violet acquiesced to Diablo's demand as the fault lied on her side, though before leaving, she expressed some passing interest in the one who named Diablo.
The Final Battle[]
Back in Raja, Shuna and Towa had reached the surface, but so had Benimaru's battle with the berserk Hiiro. Meanwhile Rimuru and Ranga continued to pursue Lacua in the sky, when Chikuan flew up to the mastermind to reinforce him, revealing himself to be a Daemon in cahoots with Lacua, proving Rimuru's earlier suspicions correct. However, his support is short-lived, as he is forced to fight Ranga, who quickly killed him with a Death Storm. With no other option, Lacua is forced into a close-range battle and quickly loses. He then tried to use his master's name to scare of Rimuru, when just then, Violet contacted him. However, against his expectation, she didn't do so to praise or support him, but to disparage and forsake him for sabotaging her fun, as his arbitrary actions had intervened in her game and thus voided her contract with the Raja royal line. She then cut contact with him, and though Rimuru couldn't hear or sense her, he could tell from Lacua's side of the conversation that he had been abandoned. In despair, Lacua consumed a Cursed Orb of his own, which increased his power and drew the power he lent to his subordinate Daemons, who he had replace the leaders of each invading force. Doing so broke their transformation, and with Rimuru's permission, his subordinates stopped holding back and eliminated the Daemons. Resolving to destroy both Rimuru and the country, Lacua attempted to blow himself up with a Nuclear Flame, though his suicidal bomb attack came to naught as the explosion was contained and consumed by Rimuru's Gluttony.
Meanwhile, the battle between Hiiro and Benimaru continued, with Benimaru trying to end the battle without killing him with a combination of Black Flames and swordsmanship. Hiiro endures the attack and just as he attacks Benimaru from behind, Towa blocks him. A bit of sense comes back to him, and he manages to stop the attack. He then impales himself, pulls out the Cursed Orb from his body and crush it, returning him too normal. However, as a side effect of the orb, he started to turn into ash and crumble. Towa uses the full power of the tiara to revive Hiiro from the Curse Orb, causing her body to be covered by the Curse Poison and vanish. However, Violet returns Towa to life after voiding the game and as an apology for her subordinate's actions. During the celebration, Rimuru offers the kingdom's ministers help in rebuilding Raja in exchange for Tempest buying their iron ore. Rimuru returns to Tempest and finds it partially destroyed after Veldora and Milim played together, and he punishes them before collapsing from exhaustion: Veldora is forbidden from reading any more manga for the time being while Frey takes Milim away.
Interview[]
An interview with Fuse, the author of the series, Taiki Kawakami, the artist for the manga, and Mitz Vah, the artist for the light novel, was conducted about their thoughts about a movie being announced.[7]
I started writing this piece of work as a hobby, but it's going to be made into a movie! I was so dumbfounded at first because it felt almost unrealistic.
Please look forward to seeing how it will turn out!
The movie was confirmed......! This is all thanks to each and every one of you who have supported Tensura, and I felt that we similar to the citizens of Tempest that are supporting Rimuru.
I'd like to thank you all and hope we can make a good movie!
When I heard the news of a movie release, I can't stop being excited, and that there was more to Tensura that I don't know yet.
I can't wait to see the more action from Rimuru and his friends in the movie version!
