Official Website Profile (Japanese)
Clive Rosfield is the first prince of the exiled country of Rosalia and a “dominant” who possesses the power of a summoned beast in his body.
Based on his beliefs, Clive has been fighting to create “a place where people can live as human beings,” but one day before the final battle, he is attacked by someone who strongly interferes with his mind and he loses consciousness.
When he awoke a short time later to the sound of his partner Torgal's cries, he was surrounded by a scene he had never seen before.
Clive realizes that this is not the land he knows as Valiszea, and he sets out to find a way to return to his original world.
Jill, Joshua... wait for me!”[1]
Official Website Profile (US English)
"Wait for me Joshua... Jill..."
Clive Rosfield—firstborn son of the Archduke of Rosaria and Dominant of Fire—has spent the past five years wielding the power of the Eikon, Ifrit, to help his people break free from the bonds of fate and learn to live on their own terms.
However, as the final battle looms near, he is overwhelmed by an unknown force and falls into a deep stupor.
It is some time later that Clive, stirred by the cries of his loyal hound, Torgal, awakens to discover his surroundings are strangely unfamiliar.
Realizing he has been borne far from his own realm of Valisthea, he begins the search for a way back home.[2]
Gameplay[]
Similar to the previous Final Fantasy guest character, Noctis, Clive's movelist consists of swordplay combined with magically enhanced moves, each of which inspired by or originating from his home series. Like Noctis who wields his primary weapon, Engine Blade, Clive mainly wields his canonical sword Invictus, while also utilizing his wolf companion, Torgal, in some of his attacks.
As a Dominant, Clive utilizes attacks from the different Eikons from his home game, with every Eikon being represented by at least one attack. Clive's Heat is based off his semi-primed state when activating Limit Break, while his Heat Smash incorporates the Phoenix Eikon's ultimate ability, Flames of Rebirth. His Rage Art is based on his fully primed state where he embodies his personal Eikon, Ifrit, and uses Ifrit's signature attack, Hellfire.

Trivia[]
- Clive is the second character from the Final Fantasy franchise to appear in the Tekken series, the first being Noctis Lucis Caelum in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.
- Unlike Noctis in his appearance in Tekken 7, Clive is able to be fully Customized in Tekken 8, barring certain options such as face or head covering customs, hair and beard customs, and the tanned skin option.
- Clive is the fourth Final Fantasy character to become a playable guest character in a non-Square Enix game after Cloud Strife, Noctis Lucis Caelum, and Sephiroth.
- Clive is the third character in the Tekken series to summon animals to attack after Kazumi Mishima and Leroy Smith. In his case, he summons his gray wolf companion, Torgal.
- Clive and Leroy have a special pre-fight interaction where Clive's wolf, Torgal, and Leroy's dog, Sugar, will run past the screen on opposite sides of the characters.
- Unlike Noctis who speaks Japanese in his guest appearance in Tekken 7, Clive speaks English in his guest appearance in Tekken 8, being voiced by Ben Starr instead of his Japanese voice actor, Yuya Uchida.
- Additionally, English was the original voice language in Final Fantasy XVI.
- Clive's appearance in Tekken 8 takes place sometime after Clive has reunited with his younger brother, Joshua, where they are also joined by their step brother, Dion Lesage, and prior to their final battle against Ultima.
- Two of Clive's outfits are based on his appearances as a teenager in the prologue to Final Fantasy XVI (Default 2), and as a conscript in the Sanbrequois Army (Default 3).
- Clive has a special win quote and intro animation against Jin Kazama, and unique intro and win dialogue against Devil Jin, Reina, King, Kuma, Panda, Yoshimitsu, and Jack-8.
- Against Jin, Jin will summon a single wing from his back before stating that he uses his power for the sake of atonement. Clive mirrors the action with a single phoenix wing before proclaiming that he uses his power for hope.
- Clive is the first character in the series to have unique dialogue specific to Mirror Matches.
- Clive's reason for appearing as a guest character parallels Heihachi Mishima's in his guest appearance in Soul Calibur II, as both men ended up in different worlds mysteriously.
