Chiss officers, also known as Chiss military officers,^[4] were military officers who served in the Chiss Ascendancy's Defense Force.^[1]

Officers promoted to flag rank (commodore or higher) were stripped of their family ties in a ceremony. This was done so the upper echelons of the Defense Force would not be swayed or biased by family favoritism or rivalries. Chiss officers below flag rank wore black uniform, while officers with flag rank wore blazing white. The rank was displayed by full dress honor chains attached to the uniform.^[2]

Military Ranks[]

The officers were ranked in two major groups, the flag officers and the normal officers. In those groups, the officers were ranked by the following system:^[5]

• Supreme Admiral
• Supreme General
• Fleet Admiral
• Senior General
• Admiral
• General
• Mid Admiral
• Mid General

Normal officers:

• Senior Captain
• Mid Captain

• Lieutenant
