The Jeweled Scepter (宝玉の杖 Hougyoku no Tsue?, lit. "Cane of Jewels") is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mystical and ancient relic from earth in the Sol Dimension and the national treasure of the Sol Empire,[1][2] which has been guarded by Blaze the Cat's royal family for generations.[3] Specifically, it is the key to tapping into an immense power known as the Power of the Stars.[4][5]
During the Jeweled Scepter incident, said scepter was targeted by Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega, who sought to use it for an attempt to create Eggmanland. However, their attempt was foiled by Sonic and Blaze. The Jeweled Scepter has since been kept in both the royal castle and Coral Cave, where it is kept under heavy guard in the shrine, after being seized and reclaimed several times. In spite of all the measures taken though, it is still targeted by villainous factions.[1]
Description[]
Appearance[]
The Jeweled Scepter is an ornate device that resembles a shepard's hook. It possesses a straight and black rod with a spherical gray and yellow orb on both ends, a sharp purple pommel on its bottom sphere, and a purple hook on the other end whose outer side has a blue, yellow, green and violet gem embedded in it. Also, on the inside of the hook, right above the rod's end, is a light blue diamond cut gem.
Powers and traits[]
The Jeweled Scepter holds power over the geological activity of earth, allowing it to increase the planet's volcanic activity, trigger earthquakes, and sink raging volcanoes.[1][6] However, its more prominent power is its ability to unlock and harness the Power of the Stars, the force that ensures the existence of parallel universes, from an underground altar in Deep Core underneath Southern Island.[5][7]
When wielded in combat, the Jeweled Scepter can perform various magic-based attacks. These include projecting fire orbs of varying intensity, conjuring up explosive dragon-based homing projectiles made of fire, generate electrical balls that can turn into beams with enough strength to paralyze even a Super State user, and summon meteors. Its ultimate attack, however, is its "Planet-Buster Laser", a large energy blast which can destroy a whole planet.
History[]
Past[]
The national treasure of the Sol Empire,[1] the Jeweled Scepter has been guarded by Blaze the Cat's royal family for generations.[3] Having previously been stolen by and reclaimed from Captain Whisker's pirate crew,[8] it was eventually put in an altar deep within Coral Cave.
Sonic Rush Adventure[]
In Sonic Rush Adventure, the Jeweled Scepter was found in the depths of Coral Cave by Captain Whisker and his crew. Although Sonic and Blaze both arrived on the scene, the robot pirate was able to get away with the scepter while he distracted the heroes with the Ghost Kraken. When the captain eventually got cornered by the heroes at Big Swell though, Marine nabbed the Jeweled Scepter while he was not looking and returned it to Blaze, who had Gardon and the royal guards put it away in the treasury for safekeeping.[9]
Unfortunately, the Jeweled Scepter was soon stolen again, this time by Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega. The two villains took the Jeweled Scepter to Deep Core under Southern Island, their master plan being to use the Jeweled Scepter to unlock the Power of the Stars and use this power to create their ideal version of Eggmanland. In Deep Core, the Jeweled Scepter was inserted into its altar where it was enlarged enough for the Egg Wizard to wield it while giving the villains' mech access to the Power of the Stars. The Egg Wizard proceeded to wield the Jeweled Scepter against Super Sonic and Burning Blaze, but was ultimately defeated. Afterward, the Jeweled Scepter was reclaimed by the heroes, and Blaze had it returned to its altar under even heavier guard than before to keep it safe.[10]
In other media[]
Archie Comics[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, the Jeweled Scepter did not make any physical appearances. In this media, it serves as the anchor and stabilizing link between the Sol Zone and the Prime Zone.

Guardians[]
At the Shrine of the Jeweled Scepter on Coral Cave Island, Gardon reports that patrol ships will surround the island at all times and that the guard has been tripled, with only Blaze and Marine being allowed access to the chamber. Marine begins to tear up and tells Blaze that while she is glad to see her treating herself right, she will also miss her when she leaves, and embraces her. Blaze, sharing the sentiment, tells Marine she can still come with her, but the raccoon declines the offer, stating that she will be needed to watch over the ship and kingdom while Blaze is away, and that she will use the Jeweled Scepter to call Blaze home if trouble arises. She gives Blaze another hug before the two-bid farewell to each other.[11]
Trivia[]
- In one scene of Sonic Rush Adventure, the Jeweled Scepter's name is misspelled in the subtitles as "Jeweled Sceptor".
