The Hammer Rush is a move that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a variant of the Hammer Attack where Amy attacks with her Piko Piko Hammer while running.

Description[]

The Hammer Rush is similar to Drop Dash, where performing it, Amy Rose will execute to rapidly a Jumping Hammer Attack as she drop down to the ground, upon where they will automatically perform the Hammer Attack while running, allowing her to destroy enemies and breakable walls that the Spin Attack can normally destroy.

Unlike Spin Attack, Amy can change direction while running, and it can be nullified by jumping or by releasing the jump button.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Origins Plus[]

In Sonic Origins Plus, the Hammer Rush is used by Amy Rose in all games and Super/Hyper Amy in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Amy can perform a Hammer Rush by holding down the jump button in mid-jump.

To perform the Hammer Rush in gameplay, the player has to hold down B/Cross/A button while in mid-air.

Sonic Superstars[]

In Sonic Superstars, the Hammer Rush is used by Amy Rose. This technique can only be executed after performing a Double Jump. To perform the Hammer Rush in gameplay, the player has to hold down B/Cross/A button while in mid-air.

Amy can perform the Hammer Rush standing still, as long as the player don't release the jump button.

Trivia[]

  • When playing with Amy in Sonic Origins Plus' Classic Mode via Level Select, Hammer Rush cannot be performed, as Drop Dash cannot. This is because both techniques partially share the programming code.
