“ | You want to hear how I tied her to the bed. Not too tight, so I could watch her struggle. No? Not your thing, huh? Oh...what about if I made her go down on her knees, forced myself inside of her? Or...or you want to hear about the pyrotechnics? How I put out my cigarettes on her. How I branded her private parts with keys and hot hangers. Do you want to hear how she was alone with me all night? A 60-year-old woman. She did things that...she never expected to do, that she never imagined were possible. With her fingers. With her mouth. Or do you want to hear how, at the beginning, she said she would do anything? I mean, she begged me for her life. And by the morning time, she was begging me to take her out of her misery. Which one do you think I enjoyed more? | „ |
~ Lewis boasting about how he tortured and raped Alice Parker. |
William Lewis, born Lewis Williams, is one of the main antagonists of the crime series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
He is the main antagonist in the episodes "Her Negotiation", "Surrender Benson", "Psycho/Therapist" and "Beast's Obsession", a posthumous antagonist in "American Tragedy" and "Wednesday's Child", & the overreaching antagonist in "Post-Mortem Blues. He was famous on SVU for being the archenemy of main protagonist Olivia Benson.
He was portrayed by Pablo Schreiber, who also voiced Patrick Bateman in the Audiobook for American Psycho.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He describes his childhood story where he received oral sex from his babysitter, and then watched his dad rape her before going out to Dairy Queen for ice cream, as "one of the best days of [his] life".
- Adding to his overall sadism and psychopathy, Lewis enjoys his own suffering just as much as he does that of others. He laughs while burning his own fingertips off on the stove, and cheers Benson on when she starts kicking the back of his knees while he's tied to the bed. When Benson warns Lewis about hell raining down on him if he doesn't let her go, he just says "let it rain."
- Before his debut, Lewis had already been charged with torturing and raping multiple females across several different states, including:
- His first girlfriend's junkie mother who tried to break them up in Kentucky.
- A pair of female roommates in Alabama
- Another girlfriend who was also his lawyer in Maryland. died from heat exposure.
- At the diner where he works, he burns his roommate's hand on a grill.
- He flashes two teenage girls at a park, demanding oral sex for "communion".
- He brutally rapes, tortures, burns and brands a 60-year-old Alice Parker for 18 hours at gunpoint. She sadly died from a heart attack three days later.
- He kidnaps Det. Olivia Benson for four days straight, subjecting her to extreme physical and psychological abuse which gives her PTSD afterwards. To be specific, he:
- Burned parts of her skin with hot keys, cigarettes and a bent coat hanger. The hanger's torture mark is visible in the series till this day, showing how brutal it was.
- Force-fed her vodka and deprived her of water.
- Made her watch while he gagged Herb Mayer resulting in a fatal heart attack and raping and burning the mother of his defense attorney, Vanessa Mayer.
- Killed a cop who stopped his car for driving past a blinking red light. He then pulled over another driver, pistol-whipping her before then locking her and her baby in the trunk and driving off in her minivan.
- Kidnapped a Spanish maid and her 5-year-old daughter, most definitely planning to rape the kid as he calls her a "cutie".
- Tied Benson to a bed and tried to rape her personally.
- While escaping prison with the help of Bronwyn, he snaps officer Cole’s neck and rapes and mutilates a nurse; the nurse survived.
- He kidnaps a 12-year-old Amelia Cole after killing her mother Janice and raping and torturing her older sister Lauren with cigarettes. Also threatening to rape and murder Amelia if Benson didn’t confess committing perjury just to get him convicted for his heinous crimes. While he kept her, he commits several crimes:
- Carjacking an innocent man and shooting him in the head
- Bounding, gagging, and pistol whipping a gas station worker
- Intended to rape and murder Martha Marron but stopped because she was not home.
- Shoving a unarmed man down a flight of stairs and repeatedly beating him.
- Bounding and gagging a parking lot attendant before fatally shooting him.
- When Benson willingly surrenders herself to Lewis in order to find Amelia, Lewis offers a sadistic choice to Benson: either he rapes Benson while Amelia watches, or vice-versa. He makes it perfectly clear that he'd be okay with it either way, and he only backs out of raping Benson because he's motivated by sadism and she wouldn't fight back or beg for mercy.
- He forces Benson to play Russian roulette with him and ends up shooting himself even though it wasn't his turn, hoping she’ll be framed and charged with murdering him.
- What makes Lewis' actions especially sick is that he doesn't rape others for sexual pleasure but only because he relishes in other people's suffering and knows that raping and torturing someone can give them severe PTSD as shown when he caresses Benson but doesn't enjoy himself at all because she is unfazed by his actions preferring when people are suffering instead.
Trivia[]
- In an interview prior to season fifteen's premiere, Warren Leight intended for William Lewis to be one of the most evil and depraved criminals in the entire series; one that would torment Benson who is regarded as a fan-favourite character.
