Spirit of the Woods is the thirty-fifth episode of Power Rangers Turbo.

Synopsis[]

While out on his annual early morning jog, T.J. meets a mysterious boy named Erutan, who is determined to protect the forest from careless humans. Divatox sends down Lord Litter to capture the child to use for evil, only to discover that it's not nice to mess with Mother Nature.

Meanwhile, Bulk & Skull get jobs as paperboys.

Plot[]

A group of teenagers drive into the woods in a jeep, driving over flowers and throwing litter out of the vehicle. A boy, Erutan, watches them and is somehow able to both interfere with the CD playing on their stereo and cause leaves to form the message "GO AWAY" on their windscreen, resulting in them driving off.

At the Juice Bar, Stone prepares a smoothie for a sleepy T.J., who downgrades his six mile run to two miles.

Bulk and Skull are delivering newspapers, throwing them at houses in a haphazard fashion. T.J. jogs past. Divatox observes the Red Ranger through a periscope and checks Porto is sure of his new monster, Lord Litter. T.J. sees a paper cup in a bush and puts it in his pocket. Erutan watches approvingly. T.J. sees the boy and asks if he's lost. Erutan insists he knows his way home. T.J. looks away for a moment and when he looks back, Erutan is gone.

Alpha contacts T.J. to warn him of an energy surge in his area. He is followed by a piece of paper which then turns into Litter. T.J. morphs, which is witnessed by Erutan. He battles the monster but Litter's ability to blow litter at him soon sees him encased. Erutan then appears and conjures up a wind that frees T.J. and blows Litter away. Cassie, Ashley, Carlos and Justin arrive and T.J. tells them about the boy.

At the sub, Litter also reports the incident to Divatox. Dreaming of controlling the elements, Divatox orders Litter to capture him.

At Angel Grove High, T.J. is unable to concentrate while studying with Cassie. He writes Erutan's name and realizes it is nature spelt backwards. He sees Erutan outside, but Cassie doesn't, and chases after him. Erutan appears behind him at the lake and thanks him for protecting the woods, showing his ability to appear and disappear and float on water. T.J. asks if he's the spirit of the woods and he replies that sometimes he's the wind and rain. Litter appears with Elgar and a pair of Piranhatrons, and Erutan disappears. Litter talks Elgar out of fighting T.J., since they're on a mission.

At the Power Chamber, T.J. explains what happened to Dimitria and Alpha. Alpha can find no sign of Erutan in the woods and convinces T.J. to wait until tomorrow to look for him.

Next morning, Bulk and Skull are flinging the newspapers with more accuracy, with one even ending up in a man's hands. T.J. jogs past to the woods and meets Erutan. Elgar gives the order to pull on a net that traps Erutan. Litter and the Piranhatrons appear as well and Litter notes he knew T.J. would lead them to the boy.

Morphing, T.J. fights the Piranhatrons and calls Alpha. The other Rangers arrive, already morphed, and join the fight. Cassie shoots down the net, although Carlos is unable to see Erutan when T.J. guides him to safety. Litter takes charge and traps the Rangers in trash cans. Erutan summons a lightning bolt that strikes Litter. Elgar retreats as the Rangers free themselves. They blast Litter with the Turbine Laser. Divatox orders Rygog to fire the torpedoes and Litter grows to giant size.

T.J. sees Erutan is weakened and tells the other Rangers to fight Litter without him. Even though they still can't see the boy, they agree. They summon their four Rescuezords and convert them to robot mode, immediately destroying Litter with Artillery Power.

They demorph and go to find T.J.. Erutan is fading but tells T.J. he'll be all right as long as people like him protect the woods. He walks away and disappears.

Next morning, Bulk and Skull are delivering the newspapers even faster on their motorbike when they are stopped by their employer who tells them they're fired. They protest they haven't missed a single house in two weeks, they're faster than anyone else and their customers love them. The newspaper man tells them why: They haven't collected any money.

T.J. runs past to the woods, where Erutan runs across the path behind him. T.J. looks round, sees a deer at the spot where Erutan disappeared, smiles and runs on.

Errors[]

  • The Turbine Laser's blast simply bowled Lord Litter over.
  • Despite not being able to form it without T.J., the four Rangers called for the Rescue Megazord.
  • When transforming the Rescuezords from vehicle to High Stance Mode, the footage playing was the Rescue Megazord formation sequence reversed.
  • When Bulk throws the newspapers, wires can be seen attached to them when they land in the mailboxes.
    • Also the scene of the newspapers landing the mailboxes are actually reversed, as shown as the sprinklers are soaking up the water instead of spraying them out.
  • It's never explained how T.J. and the villains could see Erutan while the other Rangers couldn't.
  • Bulk and Skull are fired for not charging customers for their newspapers. However, customers are usually required to pay the company directly for their subscription instead of the deliverers. This may have just been an excuse for saying that they were making the other deliverers look bad.
    • It's possibly because they were, being Bulk and Skull, throwing papers at ALL the houses, instead of just the subscribing customers, or they weren't collecting tips.

Notes[]

  • This episode aired the same day as Beetleborgs MetallixIcon-crosswiki episode 20, Booger ManIcon-crosswiki.
  • Final appearance of Bulk & Skull's patrol bike, which was introduced way back in Zeo's "A Zeo Beginning".
  • Final use of the Turbine Laser.
  • Elements of this episode are from Denji Sentai Megaranger, adapted into Power Rangers in Space.
  • This episode was featured on NICKTOON's Mega Mashup.
  • This episode showcases the ability for the Artillery Power to be used by any of the Zords or Megazords in the Turbo Rangers' arsenal, as Siren Blaster, Thunder Loader, Star Racer and Wind Rescue are shown to be able to wield both cannons in their High Stance Mode. This would later be repeated later on in "Carlos and the Count", after the Rangers have to use a new Megazord formation, as well as again during the episode "Parts and Parcel".
  • The shots of Lord Litter being shot by the Artillery Power erased White Racer's Catzord from the footage as that would have made no sense.
  • This episode is the only time that the Rescuezords are summoned to fight a monster or Zord without forming the Megazord.
