This article is about an episode in Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan. |
The Cursed Dead (呪われた亡霊た Norowareta Hōreitachi) is the thirty-fourth episode of Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan. This episode replaces the ending theme from Wakasa Wa Plasma to the second one, 1 Tasu 2 Tasu Sun Vulcan.
Synopsis[]
A spiritualist Monger revives three notable deceased warriors to torment humanity while challenging Sun Vulcan to face them in combat.
Plot[]
Count Dracula attacks a random woman (Yukari) at a dance party. Amazon Killer admonishes him, reminding him that his intended target was Misa Arashiyama. Curse Monger reveals himself and banishes Dracula into a flock of bats. Misa arrives to find the bats and Yukari's body, and reacts in horror.
Back at Snack Safari, Asao Hyou mocks Misa's story, though Kinya Samejima believes her. When Misa brings up the red dots on Yukari's neck, Hiba and Daizaburo realize it might really be Dracula.
More mysterious incidents occur across the city, resulting in increased police presence. Amazon Killer has Curse Monger attack the police, summoning Billy the Kid on an open lake. Billy the Kid opens fire on the police, seeking revenge for his partner's death before riding back into the lake. The police discover an effigy of VulEagle on one of their bodies, which harbors a note ordering the police to "Eliminate Sun Vulcan" courtesy of "Black Magma".
Curse Monger has Dracula attack a woman in a blue dress. Before he can bite her neck, VulEagle swoops in. He saves the woman, who confirms it was Dracula. VulEagle fights off the flock of bats and discovers another effigy with his own likeness.
Cyborg Queen Hedrian praises her creation, Curse Monger, and explains his resurrection abilities to Führer Hell Saturn. She orders him to summon Jeanne d'Arc.
Back at the Sun Vulcan base, Daizaburo Arashiyama and the team contemplate the effigies before realizing Misa is in trouble again. Misa walks in on Dracula attacking Yukari again. Dracula attempts to intimidate Misa, but she wards him off with a cross. He resists, vowing to turn her into a vampire and make her experience his anguish, until the Solar Squadron appears. Dracula jumps out of a window and the team follows him while Misa comforts Yukari.
In a forested graveyard, Amazon Killer, the Zero Girls, and Curse Monger attack the team with will-o-wisps. The three ghostly apparitions are summoned again to duel Sun Vulcan. As the team try to attack them, they find that their attacks don't land - the apparitions are intangible. However, the team are vulnerable to the ghastly apparitions' attacks. VulEagle authorizes a retreat back to base.
At headquarters, Asao Hyou expresses that the team can't do anything with their current arsenal. Daizaburo admonishes him, and Misa pleads with the team to do something lest the town gets overtaken by fear.
Amazon Killer and Queen Hedrian toast and feast to the defeat of Sun Vulcan. Queen Hedrian plans to humiliate the team in front of the town, and unleashes the ghosts again. Together, the ghosts make a mockery of Sun Vulcan. Among other things, Billy the Kid taunts them and Jeanne d'Arc levels a building.
Meanwhile, Sun Vulcan discover the mysterious house where Curse Monger is holed up and find a coffin within. When they storm the house, Amazon Killer reveals it's a trap. Curse Monger disorients the team and sends them into a haunted chamber filled with will-o-wisps and candlelight, which is revealed to be hell. The three spirits appear.
Once again, Sun Vulcan cannot harm the spirits, but the spirits can harm them. Dracula reveals that they can't be hurt because they're already dead, and Jeanne d'Arc reveals they are fueled by their hatred for mankind. VulEagle presses this comment further. Jeanne d'Arc gives her backstory, recounting her crucifixion and immolation. Dracula concurs, explaining each of the spirits was reviled and died alone.
Billy the Kid explains their wishes to spread chaos across the work. VulShark tries to explain that Black Magma is using them as pawns, which results in the spirits angrily lashing back out against the team.
The Sun Vulcan team attacks again with a combined strike; this somehow destroys the chamber they're in. They emerge from the coffin and attack the Machinemen occupying the room. Emerging onto the roof of the building, they next confront Curse Monger.
Becoming a Giant Monger, Curse Monger blows up the landscape. Sun Vulcan take cover and bring in Jaguar Vulcan tp form the Sun Vulcan Robo. Curse Monger attempts a beam attack, which the Robo reflects with its giant sword. The Robo attempts to cut down Curse Monger, who vanishes and appears as as duplicates. VulEagle uses Vulcan Flash to find the invisible, meditating Monger. They attack him with a sword-slam attack and then use their finisher.
The three ghosts admit that their hearts were warped with hatred, and ask for forgiveness before fading into a cross. Misa and the team memorialize them at the bay cliffside, praying that their spirits find peace. The narrator remarks that the ghosts never appeared again.
